Scharlene Brown

Scharlene Onstott Brown, 74, lifelong resident of Corsicana, Texas went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 13th, 2022. Scharlene was born on December 19, 1947, to Louise and Bill Onstott, Sr. of Corsicana, TX. She graduated from Corsicana High School, Class of 1966. Scharlene was the most caring and fun loving person you’d ever want to meet. She loved to tell jokes and make people laugh and she was the best storyteller. Her laugh and smile were contagious and she could light up a room like no one else. She was the life of the party with her perfect hair, makeup, perfume and beautifully painted fingernails. She would never turn down an invitation to go to Summer Palace or OMI. Scharlene has always had a special bond with children. She has chosen unique and individual nicknames for each child in the family. All of the children in the family always knew they could count on “Aunt Nene” for anything. If you needed to know how to prepare a family recipe, or anything about family history or if you needed a babysitter in a pinch, she was the one to call. When she came to visit, she always had a prize for all of the children and would share her Pepsi with them. She loved family gatherings and to visit around the kitchen table. Scharlene enjoyed taking trips to visit her grandsons in Missouri. She made it to Missouri before the arrival of both of their births, which made her the proudest “MawMaw.” When her grandsons came to Texas to visit her, she cooked the best biscuits and gravy or had a giant box of Honey Bunches of Oats cereal waiting for them to eat. Scharlene is preceded in death by her son, Teddy Brown; father and step mother, Bill and Elizabeth Onstott; mother and step father, Louise and Donald Sikes; brother, William Carl Onstott Jr; sisters, Deborah Clower and Vickie Tomlin; and grandson, Dillon Brown. Scharlene is survived by her daughter-in-law, Frances Hawkins, grandsons, Derrick Emmett, Sam Brown (Ashlynn Godefroid), Zac Brown (Savana Palmer), and great grandson, Cecil Brown; brother, Duane Onstott Sr. and wife Debbie; brother-in-laws Richard Clower and Steve Tomlin; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and her precious dog Minnie Pearl. A very special thank you to her cousins Margaret, Johnny, Josh and Trevor for the tender love and care they’ve shown Scharlene and family while she was on hospice. Funeral service will be held at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Sunday, July 17, 2022. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel followed by the service at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Clayton Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
