Randy Green

Randy Lee Green, 51, went to be with his Lord on Jan. 31, 2006. Randy was born in Vina, AL, on Nov. 5, 1954. He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Green Sr. and Belva Green. Randy is survived by his wife, Pam; three children, Matt Parrish and wife, Jade, Haley Green and Hunter Green; two grandchildren, Kealey and Kieran Parrish; one brother, Curtis Green Jr. of Adrian MI; one sister, Twila Phillips of Castlewood, VA, and a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews. Randy attended Michigan Christian College in Rochester, MI, and graduated from Harding University in Searcy, AR. He received his Masters in Mid-Management from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. Randy dedicated his entire career to teaching and coaching. Next to his love for his family, the ability to help young people through his teaching and coaching was what he loved best. He was a big man with an even bigger, kinder heart. The love and affection shown for him by those whose lives he touched is a testament to Randy as a role model and inspiration. The positive difference he made in so many lives will go on forever. A document written by Randy many years ago reflects how he lived his life. Here are his words: "Are you accomplishing what you honestly feel God intends for you to accomplish with your life? One of our biggest problems in attaining our dreams is that we try to do it alone. There may be some things you can do alone, but there isn't anything of importance you can do without God. He can make our plans greater and better than we can ever imagine. You ask "how do you know if it's God's will"? I really can't answer that, I only know the important thing is don't sit and wait ... Even if the direction seems totally impractical, but ever so interesting, move toward it as if it were a possibility and let God though his intervention stop you if it's not right. I wonder how many miracles a day we miss because we do not live in the now, but look back at the past or try to gaze into the future." Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4., at the Corsicana High School Auditorium. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, Memphis Tenn.
