Maureen McNally Barto

Maureen Barto, loving wife, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 4, 2026, surrounded by her family. Maureen was born in Providence, Rhode Island, on February 21, 1950, to Dr. Joseph McNally Sr. and Barbara McNally. She was the second oldest of eight children. The family ultimately settled in Corsicana, Texas, in 1963, where they lived just outside of town on Sweetbriar Ranch. Her free spirit was cultivated by all that ranch life had to offer and the freedom of the outdoors. It was there that her lifelong fondness for animals, especially horses, began. Maureen graduated from St. John's High School in 1969 and attended Navarro Junior College before continuing her education at East Texas Nursing School in Tyler. In 1974, Maureen McNally married Bernard "Bernie" Barto. After starting their family, she devoted herself to her children, the church, and the community. Over the years, she served as a sacristan and volunteered with the Altar Society, Meals on Wheels, and the Humane Society. Maureen loved any reason to celebrate, but above all, she will be remembered for her generosity, and giving spirit. Maureen is survived by her husband, Bernie Barto, of Corsicana; her sons and their families: Jason Barto and his wife, Kristy, and their children, Ella and Luke, of Liberty Hill, Texas; Brendan Barto and his wife, Corrie, and their children, Isabelle and Connor, of McKinney, Texas; and Shayne and Susan Aytes and their daughter, Adriene, of Pocatello, Idaho. She is also survived by her siblings: Dr. Joe McNally Jr. and his wife, Sandy, of Corsicana; Drs. Medford and Rosemary McCoy of Dallas; Mark and Beth Scirto of Tyler; Jayne McNally of Corsicana; Mark and Nancy McNally of Pennsylvania; John and Marlene McNally of Waxahachie; and Joe and Robin Colvin of Oklahoma. She also leaves behind numerous cherished nieces and nephews. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Joseph McNally Sr. and wife Barbara. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, July 17, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 18, at 9:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will immediately follow.
