Judith Ann Sexauer

Judith Ann (Read) Sexauer, age 83, of Fairfield, Texas, passed away on July 12, 2026. She was born on August 1, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Robert Gale Read and Florence Agnes Read. Judith was a devoted wife, mother, sister, Mimi, and friend who loved her family fiercely. Her grandchildren never knew her as "Grandma"—to them, she was simply Mimi, a title she wore with pride. She treasured every opportunity to spend time with them and took great joy in watching them grow. Judith had a personality that was impossible to overlook. She was spunky, sassy, and full of wit. A straight shooter who never sugar-coated the truth, she always said what she meant, and those who knew her always knew exactly where they stood. While her honesty could be direct, it was paired with genuine care and an unmistakable sense of humor that made her unforgettable. Known by many as "The Energizer Bunny," Judith was always on the go and rarely slowed down. She enjoyed living an active life and loved being outdoors. Whether she was running, gardening, or simply enjoying nature, she appreciated the beauty around her. She was an exceptional seamstress with a remarkable talent for sewing and was an excellent cook and baker who delighted in preparing meals and desserts for family and friends. A true chocolate fiend, she lived by one of her favorite sayings: "Life is short, eat dessert first." Those words perfectly reflected her joyful approach to life's simple pleasures. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, and cheering on her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. Judith is survived by her son, John Sexauer III and wife Tracy; her daughter, Jill Schick and husband Jason; her sisters, Carole Spear and Diane Lestyan and husband Mik; her grandchildren, Jack Sexauer, Tessa Sexauer, Jordan Sexauer, Jake Schick and wife Alli, Jesse Schick and wife Tori, Jase Schick, and Jonah Schick; along with 3 nieces and 5 nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and beloved husband, John F. "Jack" Sexauer, Jr., and her parents, Robert Gale Read and Florence Agnes Read. Judith will be remembered for her spunky spirit, sharp wit, unwavering candor, and deep love for her family. She lived life on her own terms, never pretending to be anything other than herself. Those who loved her will remember her laughter, her sass, her boundless energy, her love of chocolate; her family will always cherish the many memories they were fortunate to share with their beloved Mimi. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. No services are scheduled at this time.
