Judith Cox

Judith Kay Cox was born September 21. 1946 to B. Clarence McDougal and Catherine Elizabeth Simpkins. She was called from her earthly home to rejoice in heaven with those who passed before her after a long battle with Degenerative Brain Disease on July 18. 2023 surrounded by her friends and staff at Legend Oaks in Ennis, Texas. Judy is proceeded in death by her mother, father and brother Ronnie McDougal. She is survived by her brother, Clarence McDougal of Azusa, CA whom she loved very much. Judy lived at Harmony Living Centers from June of 2003 until June of 2020. During her years at Harmony Judy developed meaningful relationships and enriched the lives of everyone she met. Judy especially enjoyed participating in Special Olympics. Through Special Olympics she participated in: Track/Field; Bocce; Golf; Basketball; and Bowling, winning several medals in each sport. Judy really enjoyed the trips that required staying overnight and going out to eat and shopping. Judy was member of First Baptist Church of Corsicana where she was baptized and attended the Special Ministries Program where she loved to sing in the choir and play bells during the Holidays. In June of 2020 Judy found her final home here on earth at Legend Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center where she developed several meaningful relationships not only with the other residents but the staff as well. While at Legend Oaks Judy participated and thoroughly enjoyed activities, such as: Polka night; birthday parties; watching westerns; drinking her diet cokes; crocheting; and playing Bingo. Judy’s favorite things were getting her hair fixed, eating ice cream and sitting outside. A special thank you to the following: Jodi Dickerson for the ice cream runs; Liz Fleenor for all the companionship, love and care; Julie Flores with Bristol Hospice for going above and beyond not only enriching Judy’s final years but also ensuring Judy’s happiness, health and ability to speak to friends and family who live out of town; all of the staff at Legend Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation who not only went above and beyond to ensure Judy’s health and safety but also making the past three years of Judy’s life were meaningful and happy. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday August 5, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Harmony Work Center located at: 1420 Bonanza Corsicana, TX 75110.
