Joyce Whitehead

Joyce Jeannette Whitehead was born at home on August 18, 1940, just outside of Corsicana TX in the small community of Oak Valley. She was one of six children born to W.C. Kelly and Mary Myers. Jeannette grew up to later marry the man of her dreams, Sonny Whitehead. Sonny and Jeannette then raised four wonderful children together. Jeannette was a loving mother and grandmother that spent most of her days as a homemaker caring for her family. Jeannette was a loving, thoughtful, and friendly woman that always greeted you with a smile. Jeannette was devoted to her family and most of all, devoted to GOD. Jeannette is loved and cherished by her family and will be deeply missed by many. Jeannette departed her earthly home and was called to her heavenly home, while surrounded by her loved ones on December 2, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband W.H. “Sonny” Whitehead, her son Chance Whitehead, her parents W.C. “Kelly” and Mary Myers, Brothers Calvin and John Myers, and her Great Grandson Levi Whitehead. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Harris of Palestine TX, her sister and brother-in-law Kenneth and Charlotte Groening of Tyler TX, Brother and sister-in-law Larry and Becky Myers of Waxahachie Texas. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law Rick and Cecelia Whitehead of California, Her son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Dollie Whitehead of Corsicana TX, Her daughter and Son-in-law James and Dianna Perrymore of Oklahoma, Her granddaughter Maureen O’Rourke and partner Laine Fire of California, her grandson Ricky Whitehead of California, her granddaughter and spouse Joyce “sunshine” Muskwinsky of Houston TX, Her grandson Jeffrey Whitehead and partner Tiffany Sanchez of Irving TX, Her granddaughter and spouse Christy and Eric Wing of Corsicana TX, her Grandson Johnny Whitehead of Corsicana TX, Her granddaughter and spouse Brittany Whitehead Jones and Larry Jones of Corsicana TX, Her granddaughter and spouse Kathrine Berry and Connor Denk of Kansas, Her grandson and spouse Neeko and Gabrielle Whitehead of San Angelo TX, and grandson Cory Whitehead of Corsicana TX. She is also survived by her 13 great-grandchildren that she deeply cherished and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation services will be held at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 3pm-5pm. Jeannette will be carried to her final place of rest by her grandson’s Eric Wing, Jeffrey Whitehead, Larry Jones, Johnny Whitehead, Neeko Whitehead, and Cory Whitehead. Graveside services will be held at Hamilton-Beamon Cemetery on Sunday December 6, 2020 at 2pm with Pastor Tony Neal officiating services. The family would like to give a special thanks to the additional friends that Jeannette made after the passing of her husband, that helped her to find peace on earth without him. Thank you to Mildred Baptist church and all staff and residents of Friendship Towers for all of the time and love given to Jeannette throughout the years. Special thanks to Jordan Horn, Amy Overbey, and the caring staff at Hand in hand hospice for going the extra mile to care for Jeannette in her final days. You are all deeply appreciated by Jeannette and her family.
