Jo F. Walker

Jo F. Walker was born June 14, 1929, to Pearl and Henry McAdory in Kerens, TX. Jo was the baby and only daughter to her family. Jo went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2023. She was in the home of her daughter and surrounded by family. The world has lost a strong willed and giving woman. Jo always looked out for her family. She married the love of her life, Earnest Walker on November 21, 1944. They lived 78 years of love, laughter and holding hands. Jo could not bear an anniversary without him, so she went to join him just short of their 79th anniversary. Growing up Jo helped support her family at a very early age by working at Golden Brothers Men’s Store in Downtown Corsicana. She met and married Earnest when she was 15 years old. They began a lifelong partnership of love and mutual respect. The couple soon began selling Stanley Home Products after moving to California. Jo became home sick and talked Earnest into returning to Corsicana. The couple purchased a grocery store on Commerce Street and named it Town Talk Grocery. After 2 short years they moved back to California to be closer to family. In 1977 they retired from Stanley Home Products and returned to Corsicana and opened Walker Realty. Jo was a very busy lady. When she was not selling homes in the Navarro County area, she was active in the community. She was a lifetime member and ambassador for the Corsicana Chamber of Commerce and a member of The Daughters of the Confederacy. Jo actively campaigned for many elections, one being for Judge Wanda Hartley, the first female judge in Navarro County. She was active in the Navarro County Historical Society and donated the building that houses the Lefty Frizzle Museum as well and some of the contents. Jo was a fiercely loyal and hard working. She taught her children and grandchildren a strong work ethic. She enjoyed and nurtured relationships with not only her grandchildren but also her great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Walker, mother and father Pearl and Henry McAdory, brothers Louis Harris and Delbert McAdory. Jo is survived by her daughters Janet Fatsas and husband Paul, Debbie Hawk and husband Dennis and Denna Smith and her husband Jeff. Grandchildren Thomas Hubert and wife Hilary, Steven Green, Jr and wife Kristie, Timmy Green and wife Linsey, Phillip Green and wife Jessica, Cayman Hawk-Terry and husband Zack, Emmalee Lechner and husband Ryan. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Cameron Hubert, J. T. Hubert, Madison Green, Emma Green, Ainsley Green, Judson Green, Jolee Green, Wyatt Green, Corbin Green, Camden Hawk, Casen Hawk, Tyler Lechner, Mason Lechner, Lee Lechner. The family would like to thank Becky Sircy, Nicole Mason, Roslyn Eldridge and Ethel Boulware for the loving care. A special recognition to Sophia Robinson for her many years of care to both Jo and Earnest. These ladies will always be a part of our family. We would also like to thank Kristie Pollard, R. N. and Bristol Hospice. Visitation Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 5-7pm at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral service Thursday morning at 10:00am in the Chapel at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home. Burial will be private at Resthaven Memorial Park.
