Jerry M. Bruton

Jerry Martin Bruton, 80, of Corsicana passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014. Jerry was born December 2, 1933 in Corsicana, to Harry and Katherine Bruton. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church serving as deacon for 15 years. He loved his church family and enjoyed singing in the choir and greeting everyone as they came in the door. He also loved sports and enjoyed playing volleyball. Watching westerns with Gene Autry was one of his favorite pass times. He was a server of the community for over 50 years working at the family full service gas station. He became the owner of the station in 1978. He made many friends from his business and had people from Houston drive here for him to work on their cars. Above all else he loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family and took great pleasure in bragging on his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Katherine Archer Bruton. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce Bruton of Corsicana; children, Cindy and Micah Jones of Nashville, Tennessee, Marty Bruton of Corsicana, Scott and Melissa Bruton of Needville, Christi and David Biggs of Purdon, Reta Bruton of Malakoff, Paula Bruton of Corsicana, Chris Sadoski of Missouri City, Brenda Thomas of Corsicana, Mary Motsenbocker of McKinney. Grandchildren, Jason Eaves, Jeremy Bruton, Jennifer and Chris Rowe, Jessica and Caleb Vaughn, Andrew Bruton, Matt Bruton, Jordan and Chris Fox, Kelsea Bruton, Kendall Bruton, Christian Thornton, Landon Biggs. Great grandchildren, Trenton and Ryan Bruton, Kendra and CJ Fox, Alyssa and Alivia Rowe, Daniel Vaughn. Sister Judy Bruton Hogue of Rockwall and aunt June Archer of Corsicana. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 pm Monday, March 3, 2014 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Talbert officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Bruton, Jason Eaves, Andrew Bruton, Matt Bruton, Cody Johnston, Caleb Vaughn, Tommy Oliphant, Christian Thornton, Landon Biggs. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Cook, Buddy Withrow, Hubert Hoffman, Dickie Miller, Coleman Chew. Memorials may be made to Westside Baptist Church Fund 1522 N. 24th St. Corsicana, Texas 75110.
