Denise Goodrich Nabors

Mrs. Denise Goodrich Nabors joined our CISD family in 2000 and was a valuable member of our Corsicana Middle School team working as a teacher and interventionist. Throughout her career at Carroll Elementary and Corsicana Middle School she was recognized numerous times including the 2012 Golden Apple Award for the best secondary teacher in the District. “Mrs. Nabors was always working behind the scenes to support students. She developed influential relationships with her intervention students and took great pride in their success. She was also responsible for coordinating travel for hundreds of CMS students to New York and Washington DC. She will be greatly missed,” said JP Johnson, principal at Corsicana Middle School. “She is loved by students and staff and built many wonderful relationships during her 29 years of teaching. This news is difficult for all of us, especially the ones who have come to know and love her. Our deepest sympathy is with her family during this time,” said Dr. Diane Frost, superintendent CISD. Denise graduated from Morgan High School in 1987. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Tarleton State University in 1991, and later received her Master’s Degree in Education and shortly thereafter her Administrative Certification. Denise is survived by mother Margy Cooper, father Ronald Ridings, husband Clyde Nabors, children Ben Goodrich, Lacy Goodrich, and Maya (Casey) Garrett, grandchildren Asher Garrett and Abel Garrett, stepbrother Zack Cooper (Colleen), half brother Joel Carter (Tamara), uncle, Ron Anderson, and aunt, Patsy Hall, and lots of cousins, friends, and students. She was preceded in death by granddaughter Aubrey Marie Garrett, ex-husband, Bill Goodrich, maternal grandparents, Roy and Vera Anderson, and paternal grandparents, Ed and Altus Ridings, and stepfather, Mack Cooper. Visitation will be Friday, December 4, 2020 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 11:00am Saturday, December 5, 2020 at First Baptist Church.
