Daniel Hippman

Daniel Charles Hippman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law, went home to be with God on July 30, 2010 after a brief illness. Born February 10, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, Dan was the second son of George and Gwenith Hippman. He grew up in Rockford, IL. graduating from Rockford East High School in 1955. He attended Rockford College before graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 1960, earning a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. After marrying the love of his life, Sandra Elaine Cowan on June 17, 1961, Dan served in the Army Reserve while working at NASA in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1967, Dan and Sandra moved back to Rockford before relocating to Arlington, Texas in 1976 where he worked as a field representative at Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation until his retirement in 1996. During retirement Dan took on a second career as a teacher, beginning in Arlington and most recently teaching math a Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas. Dan was an athlete as a younger man, being recruited to play for the Milwaukee Brewers out of high school but chose college instead. Dan remained an avid sports fan throughout his life and shared the love of sports with his sons. Mechanically gifted, there wasn't a problem he couldn't solve. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Edward and Howard, and his grandson Justice. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sandra Hippman; brother Goerge Hippman and wife Donna of Miami, Florida; sons Paul Allen Hippman and wife Jackie of Lake Charles, LA; Thomas Peter Hippman and wife Tami Cannizzaro of Dallas, TX; Daniel Charles Hippman II and wife Kristina of Arlington, TX; grandchildren Tracy, Kate, and Truth Hippman; many nieces and nephews and too many friends to count. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lakeside United Methodist Church on FM 416 in the Winkler Community with Rev. Jeff Smith and Rev. Allyson Paxton officiating. A private family entombment will follow later at the Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum in Fort Worth. Honorary pallbearers will be George Hippman, Paul Allen Hippman, Thomas Peter Hippman, Daniel Charles Hippman II, John Hippman, and Howard Hippman. In leiu of flowers memorial may be made to the Lakeside United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
