Artice McNeel

Artice B. McNeel age 87 went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday morning, October 5, 2011 at Heritage Oaks West in Corsicana. He was born on April 7, 1924 in Richland, Texas to Clyde and Nora Sewell McNeel. After his graduation from Spring Hill High School in Longview, he joined the Navy in 1943 and was honorably discharged in June 1946. After returning from the service, he met the love of his life, Billie Fultz. Artice and Billie were married on May 30, 1948. They moved to Houston where Artice was already working for Charter International Oil Company. He retired as superintendent of Production Handling in 1985. Artice's love of the Lord led him to serve the Lord in many ways. He was a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Pasadena, TX where he also taught a couple's class. After his retirement from Charter, they moved to Corsicana and joined First Baptist Church. He served the Lord in many ways, teaching a Men's Sunday School class, active in mission's, Solid Rockers Choir, and the Sixty Plus game night which helped him get to know and have fellowship with his church family. He is survived by his loving wife Billie, his children Michael McNeel and his wife Linda of Houston and Ronald McNeel and his wife Barbara of Pasadena. Three grandchildren; Jennifer Martin and husband Garry of New Mexico, Trisha Averkiades and husband Joe of Houston, and Jared McNeel of Pasadena. He also has four great grandchildren; Madeline and Allison Averkiades of Houston, Lauren and Anna Claire Martin of New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Nora McNeel, two brothers Benny and James McNeel, and two sisters Edna Fromme and Faye Worrell. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home from 6 - 8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011 at 11am in the Chapel at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Reeves and Bro. B.F. Risinger officiating. A family graveside service will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Corsicana. Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Rose, Jay Waterman, Bill Roberts, Joe Nelson, Jared McNeel, and Dr. Scott Middleton. honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church in Corsicana. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Hertiage Oaks West and to Family First Hospice for giving such wonderful care to our loved one. If you wish, in leiu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund at 510 West Collin Corsicana, Texas 75110.
