Anne Willis Curtis

Anne Willis Griffith Curtis of Corsicana, Texas, was born in Keysville, Virginia, on March 22, 1935, and passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 26, 2026. She was a graduate of Central High School in Fountain City, Tennessee, and attended Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, the University of Alabama, and the University of Tennessee. Anne has been described by family and friends as delightful, kind, sweet, playful, fun, hardworking, and cheery. She was an avid storyteller. She was just as comfortable as a southern debutante as she was as an outdoors woman wrangling horses. She was a cockeyed optimist who proudly professed to be a “fast hooker” (of rugs). “Slim” married John R. Curtis on June 22, 1956, in Knoxville, Tennessee. They remained married for 70 years. Throughout their marriage, they lived in numerous places across the United States, including Dallas, TX; Oklahoma City, OK; Amarillo, TX; Atlanta, GA; Jacksonville, FL; Richfield, CT; Houston and Tomball, TX; Hartland, MI; and finally, Corsicana, TX. Anne was a world traveler, accompanying her husband on adventures to places such as China, Western Europe, Central and South America, and two of her favorite destinations, London and Alaska. Anne founded the preschool program at Jessie Lee Memorial Methodist Church in Richfield, Connecticut. She and her husband also raised Arabian horses outside of Houston, Texas for over 20 years. Anne was an active member of the Northwest Houston Women’s Club and a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a devoted member of First Methodist Church in Corsicana, Texas, for more than 31 years and also frequently attended First United Methodist Church in Eureka. She was a member of the Corsicana Country Club until 2020. She is survived by her beloved husband, John; her daughter, Cynthia; her son, Christopher, and his wife, Gigi Cervantes; her son, Burton; her grandson, Parker Curtis, and his wife, Jenny, along with their daughter, Mila; and her granddaughter, Kelly Curtis. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in her memory. The date and time of the memorial service will be announced at a later date.
