Verna Crook

March 16, 1933 - October 30, 2021

Verna Belle Francis Crook, 88, passed away peacefully October 30, 2021, in Corsicana, Texas. She was born March 16, 1933, in Eddy, Texas to J.B. and Vivian Francis. Verna was the head drum majorette at Waco High School, graduating in 1951. She attended many reunions there over the years, and maintained lifelong friendships with her classmates. On February 16, 1951, she married Vernon Crook, who preceded her in death in 2009. For almost 30 years, Verna was the office manager for Physicians and Surgeons Clinic in Corsicana. She was a past member of the American Business Women’s Association and Kinsloe House. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Chancel Choir and the Friendship Sunday School class. Verna was a woman of strong faith and devotion. Verna enjoyed a win when playing Bunco and she was a tough poker player. She was the life of the party! Her personality will always be remembered as outgoing, witty and bubbly. She loved dancing, shopping and traveling. Survivors include daughter, Brenda Daniel, and husband, Mike, of Corsicana; granddaughter, Lauren Aycock, of Corsicana, and great-grandson, Payton Aycock, of Huntsville. Also, Verna’s sister, Margaret McLennan, of Waco; brother, Carroll Francis, of Waco; sister-in-law, Helen Crook Stem, of Laguna Vista, Texas, and a host of nieces and nephews. A huge expression of gratitude to Jordan Golden and the exemplary staff at the Twilight Home for their exceptional care of our loved one. Donations may be made to the Child Advocacy Center of Navarro County, Navarro County Humane Society or First United Methodist Church, Corsicana. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Corsicana, with funeral services following at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Corsicana. Pallbearers are James Baird, Johnny Lake, Albert Fisher, John Arnold, Steve Mitchell and Tracy McGaha. “BoBo”, we miss you already.
