Sandra Lewis

August 2, 1944 - May 20, 2022

Sandra Kay Lewis, age 77, of Corsicana, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, peacefully on May 20th, 2022, comforted by her son Lee. She was born August 2nd, 1944, at Randolph Field in San Antonio, Texas. She was the beloved second daughter of Dick and Maxine Everett. She attended Corsicana High School, class of 1962, where she was a top scholar and majorette. She furthered her education at North Texas State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in education. She taught school for decades at several grade levels, including a time in Japan, but the majority of her educational service was spent teaching special education at Corsicana High School. Her patience and love for her students and fellow faculty blessed many lives over the years, including her own. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends to many countries and most states, as well as with the First Baptist Church on mission and humanitarian outreach trips. She enjoyed years in the singles department, Sunday School classes, Bible studies, and the choir at First Baptist Church. In her retirement, she was able to travel to Europe, Alaska, and road trips across the country with her beloved mother Maxine. However, her most highly treasured travels were to and from Dallas to bring the loves or her life, grandsons Luke and Reid, cookies. She was an avid antique collector, learning that passion from her parents. Her handwork on family Christmas stockings and other items will continue to be a treasure for all lucky enough to have them. She was a passionate, multi-talented lady who enjoyed blessing all she could with her positivity and joy. Sandy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Dick and Maxine Everett, her sister Donna Ingham, and Lee’s Godmother, Alma Ruth Love. Sandy is survived by her son, Lee Lewis, his wife Ellen, and her grandsons Luke and Reid. She is also survived by in-laws Jon Ed Ingham, Wayne and Ralinda White, Vickie Simon, and their precious families. Additionally, her “sisters- in-love” Kathy Huffman and Jami Lovelady played an important and lasting role in her life. Sandy personified grace, kindness, joy and love. Her selflessness made a positive and lasting impact on all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Corsicana in her honor. Viewing will be held at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 24th, from 10AM to 6PM. A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 25th at 11AM at First Baptist Church of Corsicana. Sandy’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the late doctor Kent Rogers, the Twilight Home staff, and all of those who loved, cared for, visited, and prayed for her during the last chapter of her life.
