Mary Alice Quinn

September 13, 1943 - January 24, 2020

Mary Alice Quinn September 13, 1943-January 24, 2020 Our loving and strong mother passed on to eternal life on January 24, 2020 after suffering from liver cancer after 12 long years. She fought her battle with courage, grace, and faith in God. Our hearts are heavy, but we are happy she is in no more pain. Mary Alice was born in San Antonio on September 13, 1943 to Zeferino and Manuela Menchaca. She was the sixth born into a family of thirteen children. Mary Alice loved gardening. She was known for her green thumb and loved watching her roses and plants blossom. Above ALL, she loved her family with a passion. She raised her brothers, sisters, nieces nephews, her children, and grandchildren. She was full of wisdom and advice. Mary Alice didn’t grow up with much, but she was always willing to help anyone in need. She always put for her children before herself. Her family never went without, even if that meant that she had to work two jobs. Mary Alice worked as a dispatcher for the police department in Floresville. After moving to Fairfield in 1976, she worked as a med aid at Fairfield Nursing Home for many years. Mary Alice then went to work at Lott Insurance Agency as a secretary, and retired from there to spend more time with her grandchildren. Mary Alice did go back to work years later as a receptionist at the local emergency room, all while having to battle cancer. Mary Alice is survived by her four daughters, Theresa Farris and husband Donnie, Carrie Pyles and husband Rick, Patty Spiller and husband Ronny Wayne, Cinnamon Archibald, and her two son’s Johnny Bermudez and wife Melissa, adopted son Valentin Azuza and wife Linda. Grandchildren Kelly Childs and husband Geoff, Ricky Pyles, Michael Spiller and fiancé Mysti, Ryan Pyles and wife Alicia, Randall Pyles, Kristin Shaw, Haley Bermudez, Preston Long, Ethan Bermudez and Austin Archibald. Great grandchildren Hayden Childs, Madison Armstrong, Gabby Childs, Ryan Pyles, Jr., Holton Marberry and Jace Marshall. Siblings Jesse Menchaca and wife Mary, Manuela (Mamie) Hernandez and husband Charlie, Estevan (Steve) Menchaca and wife Pat, Guadalupe (Lupe) Menchaca and wife Elsa, Victor Menchaca and wife Emily, Mercedes Menchaca and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents Zeferino and Manuela Menchaca, siblings Aurora, Tito, Zeferino Jr., Juan, Ruben Menchaca and Emma De La Garza, grandson Louis Ray Pyles, son in law Tyler Archibald and great-nephew Jovanni Casiano. A celebration of life will be 11:00am Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
