September 25, 1933 - February 7, 2022
In Loving Memory of Margaret (aka Sissy/Granny) Estell Butler September 25, 1933-February 7, 2022 (88 years of age) Margaret (aka Sissy/Granny) was born on Sept. 25, 1933, in Eureka, TX to the late Effie and the late Odie James Minatra. In June of 1944, OJ passed and then Effie married Max Ganze in Feb. of 1945. Margaret was raised in meager means, but no matter the means they were very rich in love. Music was always a connecting force for her family. Her education started in Rural Shade, TX then eventually at the age of 11 she moved to Dawson, TX and lived there until marriage. Margaret married the late Robert (aka Boompie) Earl Green at the age of 15 on May 7, 1949, until his passing on June 15, 1980, at the age of 48. Together their children are Larry (Carol), the late Pamela (1953), Marsha, the late Gary (1957), Guy, and finally Tammy (Roger). On Feb. 27, 1984, she married the late James Grant Butler (aka Papa Jim) until his home going on Feb. 15, 2011, at the age of 86. After receiving her GED, April of 1977, she went to work for ARA Food Services until her retirement in 1998. After retirement, she enjoyed being a full-time caregiver for her grandchildren/great-grandchildren for many, many years. Margaret enjoyed gathering with her family and friends. She loved cooking, playing dominoes, and just spending time together. Her favorite pastime was supporting the Astros. She was such a woman of the Word, and this legacy will live on for eternity. Margaret’s favorite Bible verse is Prov. 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path” and her favorite chapter was Psalm 91. Margaret was a woman of faith and now she is worshiping her Lord and Savior on streets of gold in heaven. Her last earthly breath was followed by her first breath in heaven for eternity. Toward the end of her life, she took consolation in her faith in Christ and her knowledge that she will be reunited with her loved ones one day. We all rejoice in her new life in Christ, yet we mourn because of the void in ours. She is survived by her older sister, Dorothy Ganze, and sister-in-law, Mary Minatra Robinson, her 4 children/spouses, 11 grandchildren/spouses, 9 great-grandchildren/spouses, and 1 great-great-grandchild along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Billy and James (aka Bubba) Minatra and a granddaughter, Kimberly Ford. All are welcome to say farewell until we meet again on Saturday, February 12th at 11AM-12:30PM at Deer Park Funeral Directors (336 E. San Augustine, Deer Park, TX) and/or at Margaret’s graveside Celebration of Life at Eureka Cemetery (Southeast County RD 3110, Corsicana, TX (2 miles off 287)) at 3PM on Sunday, February 13th. If anyone would like to send flowers/plants in memory of Margaret (aka Sissy/Granny) Estell Butler, please send them to the graveside service at Eureka Cemetery.
