Ida Eva Burleson
January 19, 1928 - January 1, 2022
Ida Eva Burleson went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 1, 2022. Eva was born on January 19, 1928, to Clem and Katie Garner in Navarro County. Her parents passed away when she was very young, and she then lived with her sister Jeanette and husband James Owens. She worked at McClellans store with Bessie Mae. Once, she went with Bessie Mae to visit family, and there met the love of her life, Arthur Burleson, while he was on leave from the navy. On January 19, 1946, Eva’s 18th birthday, they were married and went on to enjoy 67 years of marriage. Eva was a loving mother to three boys who loved her dearly. She loved to fish and could out fish anybody around her. She passed her love of fishing down to her children and grandchildren. Even at 90 years old, she would love to go to her son Randall’s place, any chance she’d get, to throw a line and sit by the tank. She was a wonderful cook and loved cooking for her family. She passed down her love for cooking to her daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. She worked at Haggar Slacks, and was a wonderful seamstress, although crocheting was her passion. Her and A.D. played dominos every week for years with friends and family, often times with a grandkid tagging along. She was a loving and wonderful grandmother, who could always make you feel at home when you were around her. Grandma had a great sense of humor and had the greatest laugh. She was mostly soft spoken but could sometimes surprise you with her wit and humor. She loved her family very much and showed it through her words and actions. There are many memories that her family and friends will cherish forever and laugh about for years to come. She will be missed fiercely. She is survived by son, Randall Burleson and wife Brenda of Emmett; son, Billy Burleson of Emmett and son Garland Burleson of Corsicana; grandson Steve Burleson and wife Sharon of Emmett; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Reed and husband Joe of Mertens; Josh Burleson and wife Elaina of Emmett; Elijah Burleson of Emmett, and Johnathan, Jacob, and Jayci Burleson, all of Emmett; great-great grandchildren, Leah and Waylon Burleson, and Lillian and Hayes Reed; niece Earlene Bowling and husband Johnny; nephew Kenneth Owen; nephew Don Owens and wife Juanita, and many great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Arthur Burleson. She is also preceded in death by her grandson, Dustin Burleson; parents, Clem and Katie Garner; brother, Tom Garner; sister Jeanette Owens and husband James; sister, Mary Lou Davis; sisters-in-law, Mary Burleson, Northera Toten, and Bessie Mae Tucker. Graveside Funeral Service will be 3:00pm Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Burleson, Joe Reed, Elijah Burleson, Jacob Burleson, Johnathan Burleson, and Don Owens. Family and friends will meet at noon at Grace Community Church for lunch.
