Emma Dick

November 26, 1941 - February 27, 2022

Emma Faylene Dick of Wortham, Texas born on November 26, 1941, in the community of Pursley in Navarro County took her first breath in Heaven on the afternoon of February 27, 2022. She spent the last year of her 80 blessed years as a resident of Twilight Home Corsicana. She was the eleventh child of the his, her and ours of Louis Whitfield & Ola Tanner. Faylene attended school in Pursley and Dawson. After traveling to Dallas, Guam, California and Chicago, she settled in Navarro County, where she worked for the Haggar Slacks factory, the hat factory, Tom Foods. She then settled in her corner lot home in Wortham where she retired from the Mexia State School. Faylene spent many nights boot scootin across the surrounding counties with her family and friends. She made it her mission to make sure each child and anyone else that wanted to learn, knew how to dance the two-step. She and her sister, Lois, spent countless hours quilting so that each child had a quilt of love. She attended Shady Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed listening to gospel music played by loved ones that traveled in the area. She is survived by 4 beloved children: Jody Pitts of Fayetteville, AR, Nicki (Jeff) Wheeler of Louisville, KY, Denise (Scott) Hough of Rowlett, TX and Dean Simpson of Wortham. She is survived by grandchildren Joseph (Stephanie) Caldwell, Austin Willis, Ryan (Hannah) Pitts, Dakota Simpson, Courtney Pitts, Bailee Hough, Jude Simpson, Heaven Gruzins, Brett Hough and Ryder Simpson and great grandchildren Christian, Gannon, Dalyn, Ashton and Gracelyn. She is also survived by her brother Lewis W. (Pam) Tanner and sister Reba Gullett and many specially loved nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lynn Dick, her parents, her brothers, J.W. Benton, H R Benton and Billy Benton and sisters Evie Nunn, Bessie Sawyer, Juanita Dyer, Miriam Praytor and Lois Lane. Visitation with her family will be 6-8 pm Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Service will be 10 AM Friday, March 4, 2022, in the Chapel at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home followed by Graveside service at Wortham Cemetery.
