Edith Hedrick Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Edith Roslyn Esmond Hedrick, 95, passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2022, with family by her side in Corsicana, Texas. She was born April 14, 1927, in Lamesa, Texas and was a graduate of Lamesa High School and later Hardin Simmons University in Abilene Texas. There she met the love of her life M.W. “Moe” Hedrick. They were married in 1948 and were inseparable until his death in 2004. Edith was a teacher for most of her adult life and touched the lives of countless students. She loved Jesus and was an active member of the Heights Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas. In recent years she had relocated to Corsicana where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Herbert Earl Esmond and Lilly Esmond, her brothers Kenneth and Conley Esmond and sisters Verlon and Jeannie as well as many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her family: son Mark Hedrick (Gail), daughter Emily Fortson, and daughter Judy Gatewood (Michael) as well as grandchildren Gabriel Hedrick, Jennifer Fortson, Jessie Armstrong, Ally Hedrick, Morgan Hallum, and Nick Gatewood as well as six precious great granddaughters. Her love as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother will live on in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the American Diabetes Association or New Century Hospice in Corsicana, Texas. A graveside service for the family will be held at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas on Friday, July 22, 2022, at 11:30am. There will be a visitation with family members Thursday evening from 4 - 6pm at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date due to COVID and travel constraints.
