Alice Bass

Alice Fern Grounds Bass passed away June 6, 2022. She was born September 22, 1932, near Blooming Grove, Texas to Robert Martin Grounds and Leta Fern Shumate Grounds. She married Kenneth Edward Bass, a Methodist minister, in Dresden, Texas, on May 14, 1955. Over the years they served many communities in Central Texas. While in the Waco area, Alice worked for radio station WACO-100 for over 15 years. She was a long-time member of the Corsicana Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, parents, brother James Grounds, and sister Nevada Hollifield. Alice is survived by two brothers, Bevie Ray Grounds and Gary Grounds and sister Barbara Frioni. She is also survived by three sons and their wives, Ken and Belinda, Conway and Peggy, and Robert and Beverly. She was a proud grandmother of Keith, Shannon, Samantha, Collin and Casey as well as a great-grandmother to seven and a great-great grandmother to two with another on the way. She greatly loved her many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, June 10, 2022, from 10:00 to 11:00 am, to be followed by a graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove, Texas, at 11:30 am. The family wants to express their gratitude to the wonderful care provided to our mother by both Brookdale Assisted Living and Twilight Home in Corsicana, Texas.
