William Earl Ogburn

William Earl Ogburn, 91, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 1, 2015 surrounded by loved ones at his home in Roane. Earl was born on August 31, 1923 to Francis and William Ogburn. He attended several schools including Sands Chapel school in Chatfield. Earl was happily married to Gladys Lucille Coffey Ogburn for almost 68 years before she passed in 2011. Earl was in the US Army and was a World War II veteran. He was a very active member of Roane Baptist Church for over 60 years and served as deacon and treasurer. Earl will be dearly missed by his church family. He worked at Bryant Cotton Gin in Roane, Kent Bros. Feed and Seed in Powell, and was the manager and part owner of Powell Cotton Gin. The old timers knew they could depend on Earl for any electrical work, and they say he has been in every attic in the Roane community. He enjoyed cattle ranching with his son, Ronnie and grandsons, Ronnie Dale and Russell. He dearly loved to feed cows, and you could say he had the fattest cows around. For years, he would travel to South Texas to deer hunt with his good friend and fellow deacon, Jim Parker of Roane. Earl is celebrating in Heaven with Gladys and their two sons, Ronnie and Gary. He is preceded in death also by his parents and siblings, Benny, Everett, and Faye. Waiting to reunite with him is his wife of three years, Fran Parnell; "favorite" daughter-in-law, Cathy; grandson, Ronnie Dale and wife Kim; grandson, Russell and wife Lacey; great grandson, Colton; great granddaughters, Alexys, Lucille, and Lillian; sister Juanelle of Arkansas; brother, Johnny of Georgia; sister, Billie of California. Also waiting to see him again are numerous family members and friends. Russell Reed will officiate the memorial service at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be Friday, April 3, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Dale Ogburn, Russell Ogburn, Colton Ogburn, Bob Williams, Larry Williams, Manuel Pimentel, Rob Owens and Gary Talley. Earl had a full life and made many happy memories, but most important was his love for Jesus Christ. Memorials can be made to Roane Baptist Church (P.O.
