Wiley Stroud

Wiley D. Stroud, was born January 19, 1928, to Alonzo and Cleo Stroud in Post Oak, Tx. He passed away February 2, 2011 in Waco with his family at his side. On August 23, 1946, he married Patsy Lee, and they made their home in Fairfield. In his early adult years, Wiley worked in the family owned grocery store, where he was a butcher. Later he began a long career in the banking business, at First National Bank in Streetman. When the bank was moved to Fairfield, he continued his work there, as President, until leaving to take a position as President at Fairfield State Bank. He worked there until his retirement. Since that time he enjoyed ranching, and going to the pasture to see about his cattle. He lived his life enjoying time spent with his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They were a joy in his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fairfield and Streetman serving many years as a deacon. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Patsy Stroud of Fairfield, one son, Link Stroud and wife Grace of Granbury, one daughter, Patti Ballard and husband Elmer of Fairfield. Three grandsons, Phillip Ballard and fiancee Bekah of Fairfield, Ethan Ballard and wife Gayelynn of Leander, Matthew Stroud and wife Christina of Fort Worth. Two brothers, A.J. Stroud and wife Doris of Centerton, Arkansas, Charles Stroud and wife Patsy of Waco. Two sisters, Margie Hugdhal and husband Harold of Arlington, Barbara Connor of Lufkin. Four great grandsons, Cody Ballard of Kempner, Kyler Ballard of Leander, Kyle and Wyatt Ballard of Georgetown. Four step great grandchildren, Cody, BJ, Ashleigh and Amber all of Leander. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, and two brother in laws, Dalton Connor and Gene Howard. Visitation will be 6-8pm Monday, February 7, 2011 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be 2pm Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Woodland cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Stroud, Lathon Stroud, Sid Stroud, Bruce Howard, Paul Burkhart, Buddy Stroud. Honorary pallbearers James Whately, Phil Whatley, Kent Whately, Glynn Harris, Harold Massey, Johnny B. Massey, Dr. J.H. Keller.
