Wendellynne Diane Jacobs

Diane Ainsworth Jacobs, 69, of Corsicana, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Baylor Medical Center Dallas. Visitation will be Sunday, March 3, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. with the funeral following at the Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana. Burial will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery in Retreat. She was born November 28, 1949, in Corsicana to Wendell and Betty Cox. She grew up all over the U.S. as her father was a pipeliner. She graduated from Corsicana High School in 1968. She received a B.B.A. from Dallas Baptist University, a teaching certification from Tarleton University and a Master of Science Degree from Texas A&M University Commerce. Diane married Kenneth Ainsworth in October of 1968, and they were married for almost 34 years before his death in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Betty Fuller, and her niece, Beth Cox. Diane was employed with Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in Corsicana for more than 20 years before becoming a teacher. She taught special education in Corsicana, Mexia State School and Blooming Grove for more than 20 years before retiring to care for her mother. She married A.L. “Jake” Jacobs, Kenneth’s best friend, in August of 2012. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Corsicana for many years before transferring to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Jake Jacobs of Corsicana; her daughter, Niece Ainsworth Hansen of Corsicana; her step-daughter, Mary Jane Brown of Greenville; her brother, Terry Cox and Marilyn of Glen Rock, Pennsylvania; her grandsons, Rowdy, Luke and Cutter Hansen of Corsicana and D.J. and Justin Brown of Greenville and Jordan Young of Rice; her granddaughters, Melanie Hansen Chambers of Kemp and Marissa Brown Hall of Greenville; numerous brothers and sisters in-laws from her Jacobs family; her niece, Jen Janus of West Virginia, and other nieces and nephews from her Jacobs family; 6 great granddaughters and two great grandsons; and many friends and former students. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Rowdy, Luke and Cutter Hansen and Jordan Young, and nephews, Dan Greer, Michael Jacobs, Lance Hughes and Randall Jacobs. Honorary pallbearers will be John Hughes, Ray Jacobs, Mark Chapman, Kenneth Lewis and Robert Hoskins. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church or Gideon Bibles in the name of Diane Jacobs.
