Virgil W. Wilkinson Sr.

Virgil Wayne Wilkinson Sr. Virgil Wayne Wilkinson Sr., age 74, of Corsicana, Texas passed away on January 22nd, 2025, at his home. He was born on February 13th, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas to Marion “Mickey” Wilkinson and Katherine Wilkinson. He attended school in Elgin, Texas. He married his sweetheart Sandra Kay Wilkinson who he would have been married to for 60 years this June. They have spent the last 60 years building a beautiful life together. Virgil relocated to Corsicana, Texas to start his family living in the country. Virgil and Sandra lived out at Lake Halbert for 38 years where they opened Wilkinsons Upholstery Shop. Virgil began his career in upholstery and kept his business open for over 21 years. Virgil was a man who had a love for all things outdoors. From a young age, he developed a love for fishing and hunting with his coon dogs. Later in life, he then found joy in going to the deer lease to hunt with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he adored. Everyone knew that Virgil loved his oatmeal pies and Pepsi. Virgil will be remembered for his love for family and the humor that made life a little more fun for those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Virgil is survived by his beloved wife Sanda Wilkinson of almost 60 years, sister Donna Jean Divins, son Virgil Wayne Wilkinson Jr. and wife Nancy Wilkinson, daughter Becky Northern and significant other Benny Huffman, son Darrell Wilkinson and significant other Anja Wilkinson, grandchildren Jennifer Huffman and husband Billy Huffman, Megan Wilkinson, Justin Wilkinson and significant other Paige, Cory Wilkinson and fiancé Nancy Corona, Cody Sherrard and wife Holly Sherrard, Zachary Wilkinson and wife Maria Wilkinson, Jarod Wilkinson, Lauren Diggs and husband Dylan Diggs. Great-grandchildren Mason Huffman, Jaxon Huffman, Jaylea Huffman, Jaydin Huffman, Kenadee Sherrard, Everett Sherrard, Shooter Diggs, Alyssa Diggs, Case Diggs, Jordyn Wilkinson, Isabella Wilkinson, Amelia Wilkinson, Weslyn Wilkinson, Brooklyn Wilkinson, Emberlynn Itchue, McKinlynn Itchue, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Elder and Ruby Wilkinson, Edward and Gladys Borlace, his parents Marion “Mickey” Wilkinson and Katherine Wilkinson, his brothers Pat Wilkinson and David Wilkinson Sr., and uncle Chipper Borlace. Pallbearers will be Cody Sherrard, Justin Wilkinson, Cory Wilkinson, Zachary Wilkinson, Jarod Wilkinson, and Mason Huffman. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 3-5pm at Griffin-Roughton funeral home in Corsicana, Texas. Celebration of Life will be held Monday, January 27, 2025, at 11:00am in the Chapel at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hamilton - Beeman Cemetery, .
