Thomas Wayne Morgan

Thomas Wayne Morgan, 76 of Emhouse, TX passed away in Corsicana, TX on May 22, 2014. A caring, hard working person Wayne graduated from Emhouse High School in 1956. Immediately after he joined the 1960 Engineering class of UTA of Arlington. After college, Wayne being the kind to always fix, construct, and tinker he joined TU Electric as a District Electrical Engineer. He moved around Texas working for the company and moved back home to Corsicana in 1966. Wayne worked for TU Electric for 34 years before retiring. A proud father, grandfather and community supporter, Wayne was constantly on the go supporting and organizing events. From coaching Little Dribblers basketball, to helping his kids with 4-H /FFA animal show projects, ushering at FUMC, and volunteering, Wayne was a constant in the Corsicana and Emhouse Communities. Wayne was born August 28, 1937 in Chatfield, TX. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Corsicana, TX. He is survived by wife of 55 years Francis Marlene Morgan of Emhouse; children Karen Morgan Vandiver and husband Kerry of Ennis, Donna Morgan Jackson and husband Matt of Emhouse, Steve Thomas Morgan and wife Tiffany of Emhouse. Beloved grandchildren, Courtney Vandiver, Chase Vandiver, Chelsea Vandiver, Brittney Jackson, Parker Jackson, Jared Morgan, Sean Morgan, Austin Morgan and Hunter Morgan. He is also survived by two sisters Wilma Morgan of Corsicana, and Barbara Bailey and husband Larry of Rice and one brother Jerry Morgan and wife Shirley of Corsicana, TX. He is survived by two brother-in-laws Edgar Montgomery of Corsicana, and David Shows and wife Barbara of Nacogdoches, TX, and numerous friends, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Mark and Oneta Morgan, in-laws Elizabeth and Marvin Show, and sister Nancy Montgomery. In the later years of his life Wayne enjoyed volunteering and was awarded the Navarro County Outstanding Older Texan Award in 2005. He enjoyed working puzzles, attending his grandkids activities, and sporting events with Marlene beside him. He participated in PALS, organizing and supporting the Emhouse School reunions and visiting with friends. Wayne loved his farming and land, church and spending time with his family. The family would like to thank Tri-Sun Care Center for all their love and support. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Sunday, May 25, 2014 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Alexander and Rev. Jay Fraze officiating. Private family burial will follow at family cemetery, Triple Creek Cemetery located in Emhouse, TX on land which has been in the family for over 140 years. Pallbearers will be Mark Shows, Lee Montgomery, Scott Montgomery, Karl Sparkman, Chad Sparkman, Paul Bailey, and Ricky Morgan. Honorary Pallbearers are the Friendship Sunday School class at First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church 320 North 15th Street Corsicana, Texas 75110.
