Thomas Earl Johnston

Thomas “Tommy” Earl Johnston, age 81, of Corsicana, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Twilight Nursing Home, surrounded by his family. Tommy was born on July 22, 1944, in Corsicana, Texas, to Ish Johnston and Edna Earl Johnston. He grew up in Corsicana and graduated from Corsicana High School, where he was a member of the Tiger football team. Tommy married the love of his life, Darlene Bell, and together they shared a strong and devoted marriage that lasted over five decades. The two were married on December 27, 1974, and together built a life rooted in love and commitment, with the birth of their son, Caleb, becoming the greatest joy of his life. Their bond remained steady and enduring throughout the years, serving as the foundation of their family. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Ish and Edna Johnston; brother, David Johnston; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clint and Murlene Bell; sister-in-law, Teresa Brown; and nephew, Jonathan Brown. He is survived by his loving wife, Darleen Johnston; son, Caleb Johnston, of Corsicana; goddaughter, Natalie Lucas; and god-grandson, Luke Wallace; sister-in-law, Jaynie Johnston; brother-in-law, James Brown; brother-in-law, Clinton Bell and wife Tina. He is also survived by his nephew, John David and wife Tammie; nephews Brian Bell and wife Christina; nieces Jennifer Buckhannan and husband John, and Amanda Wolfgram and husband Eli; along with dearly loved great-nieces and great-nephews. He is lovingly remembered by his lifelong cousins, who shared a close and enduring bond with him throughout his life. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Griffin Roughton Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, with Brother Charky Marquis officiating. Burial will follow at Eureka Cemetery in Eureka, Texas. Pallbearers will be John David Johnston, Eli Wolfgram, John Buckhannan, Mitch Prowell, Bryan Collier, and Gary Gober. Honorary pallbearers are Clinton Bell, James Brown, Bob Wilson, and Mike McKenzie. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Twilight Nursing Home and Bristol Hospice, including the staff, nurses, and chaplain, for the compassionate care, support, and kindness they provided to Tommy. Tommy will be remembered for his devotion to his family and the life he built with those he loved.
