Thomas D. Cannon Sr.

Thomas Doyle Cannon was born on November 19,1932 to parents H.T. and Era Cannon. He was raised on the home place in Fairfield, Texas and lived there until his marriage to Genelle Cannon in November 1962. He then built his home on the Cannon land adjoining the home place. Thomas Doyle was preceded in death by his parents H.T. and Era Cannon, brother Millard Cannon, and sister Zuma Lee Henry. He is survived by wife Genelle Cannon, two children Thomas Doyle Cannon Jr. and Lynn and Ray Lancaster, and four grandchildren Chad Lancaster, Cody Lancaster, Ashley Cannon, and Thomas Doyle Cannon III (Tad.) Thomas Doyle also survived by brother H.J. Cannon and sisters Juanita Chavers and Marie Richardson. He loved his family and would do anything for them. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 until 1952 when he came back and began working at the local ice company. Above all else Thomas Doyle was a cowboy and calf roper. He enjoyed his horses and his many rodeo friends. He always had good horses for his children, grandchildren, as well as for himself. He was honored to win numerous saddles, buckles, and tack through the years. He retired from the U.S. Postal service as a rural letter carrier in 1996. He enjoyed his association with the people on his route as he enjoyed visiting with people. He always had a good word for everyone and enjoyed many friendships. Thomas Doyle was a Christian man who loved the Lord above all else. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, Fairfield. Service will be 10:00 am Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Stewart Mill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tad Cannon, Chad Lancaster, Cody Lancaster, Collin Puckett, Thomas Gene Cannon, H.J. Cannon III. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Lancaster, Mark Chavers, Gene Chavers, Bobby Robinson, Don Hardin, Glendon Carroll, Zach Newman, Roy Newman, Jeremy Boyd, Justin Campbell, Derek Scott..
