Rita Joyce Hart

Rita Joyce Hart, born December 16, 1950 entered the arms of Jesus on February 28th, 2020. The expression “to know her was to love her” is only half of her story. For with Rita, to know you was to love you. A resident of Corsicana and member of Northside Baptist Church for more than 40 years, a trip to the store with her was like being out with a celebrity. She knew everybody, and everybody knew her. Rita loved to teach Sunday School, sing in the choir, spend time with her family and was a talented artist. Preceded in death by her Parents, Carter and Joy Hart and her youngest sister, Joan Marie Hart. She leaves behind her sister Carol Gilbert and Husband Henry of Arlington, sister Lee Ann Collins and husband Bryan of Kaufman, sister Lana Warren and husband Ed of Humble. The children she helped raise and loved as her own - nephew Cary Gilbert and wife Tempy, nephew Eric Collins, nephew Jason Collins and wife Krystal, niece Caron Crumley, nephew Carter Gilbert and wife April, nephew Sean Davault and wife Tonya, nephew Joshua Davault and wife Amanda, niece Heather Sheffield and husband Ian, and nephew Scott Willis. She leaves behind 17 great nieces & nephews and a host of extended family who were so loved by Rita. To every single person who offered a helping hand, a kind word, a funny exchange that made her life here so rich, God bless you each. Special thanks to her neighbors at Friendship Towers and her church family at Northside that has loved her as dearly as we. Flowers are always appreciated. If you are inclined to offer a living remembrance, a donation in her name to the Northside Baptist Church children’s ministry would be a fitting tribute to Rita. A time of visitation with her family will be Thursday evening at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home from 6-8pm. A celebration of her life will be Friday, March 6, 2020 at 10:00am at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Lamb officiating. Burial will follow at Eastland City Cemetery later that day at 3:00pm. Pallbearers will be her nephews and nieces Carey Gilbert, Caron Crumbley, Carter Gilbert, Eric Collins, Jason Collins, Heather Sheffield, Sean Davault, Josh Davault and Scott Willis.
