Raymondo Cruz Fuentes

Raymando "PePaw" Cruz Fuentes ( Ray, Finkel, Fink, Sitting Bull) of Fairfield passed away at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the age of 67. He was born in Fairday, Louisiana on September 5, 1948 to Alejandro Fuentes and Maria Consuelo Cruz Fuentes. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam. Raymando married Justine Gallegos on August 25, 1970 in Terrell, Texas. He was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Fairfield. Raymando was a avid hunter enjoying being outdoors hunting deer, wild pigs and dove hunting. Going hunting with his family meant telling stories from his past experience in Vietnam and other events that happened to him. He also was a golfer and cheered on his teams, the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and Texas Longhorns and on occasion the Texas A & M Aggies. He was and avid cook and enjoyed a game of horse shoes. He and Justine would go away in the R.V. to Fredericksburg after he retied. Family and friends meant a lot to Raymando. He supported his children and grandchildren in everything they did. He was proud of the Fairfield Eagles and loved to show his support at sporting events. He had a strong work ethic, for 30 years he worked at Nucor until his retirement in 2002 and then after two weeks he went back to work. Work came before play. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Frank Fuentes. Raymando is survived by his wife of 45 years Justine Fuentes of Fairfield. Children; Deanna Emmons and husband Cory of Fairfield, Jesse Fuentes and wife Brandi of Fairfield and Michael Fuentes and wife Kristen of Corsicana. Grandchildren; Raegan Emmons, Raymie Emmons, Rhaina Emmons, Lilli Fuentes, Layla Fuentes, Lane Fuentes and one Baby Fuentes on the way. He is also survived by a brothers; Alex Fuentes of California and Jimmie Fuentes and wife Lucy of Terrell. Nephews; Jimmie Alex Fuentes, Mark Anthony Fuentes and Richard Aaron Fuentes. Rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 5pm at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield. Visitation will follow from 6 - 8pm with the family in the Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11am at St. Bernard's Catholic Church with burial to follow at Fairfield City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eddie Shultz, James Pfleeger, Eric Melvin, John Gallegos, Jimmy Murphy, Jacob Gallegos and Martin Gallegos. Honorary pallbearers are Randall Whitaker and Robert Cruz.
