Raymond Robinson

R.E. "Sugar Ray" Robinson, 88 of Corsicana passed away July 14, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 3, 1933 in Lone Cedar, Texas to Loyd and Gladys Christie Robinson. He married Doris on October 6, 1956. He was known for making wooden tops and yoyo's, and loved to give them away to everyone especially children. He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Doris Jean Robinson; daughter & son-in-law, Susan & Jimmy Dockery of Powell; son, Chris Robinson of Dallas; grandchildren, Jason & Sarah Dockery of Katy, Jamie & Adam Levine of Powell, Sarah Dockery of Corsicana and Seth Douglas of Corsicana; great grandchildren, Ava Ray Levine, Addison Levine, Hayes Dockery and Allie Dockery; brothers, Steve & JoAnn Robinson, Jerry and Glenda Robinson and numerous nephews and nieces. We wish to specially thank our honorary family members of Hand In Hand Hospice. Robin Hoover, Brittany Whitehead Jones, Fred Heinen, Jacqueline Bator, Jessica Bator, Patsy McSpadden, Michelle Taylor, Amy Overby, Dr. Ronald Rodriguez and Tony Stephens. Also, our special helpers Brittany Ayala, Bernice Corona, Grace Smith and Julia Rojas. Visitation will be Friday, July 16th from 5:00-7:00pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Graveside Funeral Service will be 2:00pm Saturday, July 17th at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dustin Douglas, Daniel Douglas, Seth Douglas, Adam Levine, Fred Heinen and Wally Ovalle. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rayford Stewart, Dino Bland, Richard Cummins and Don Cofer. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hand In Hand Hospice. Sugar Ray loved and collected pocket knifes making this story so fitting. Pocket Knife So, who are the kind of men who carry pocketknives today? They are typically utilitarian. They are the type of men who work hard for a living, fix what is broken, and stand fearless in the face of a world full of evil. To put it simply, they are the type of men that this world needs more of. If you find yourself in a tight spot and need some help, just ask the guy with the pocketknife. Although they are few and far between these days, chances are he can and will be able to help you out.
