Phillip Lybrand

Phillip Lybrand was born April 23, 1964 in Amarillo, Texas to Bennie and Carole Lybrand. He graduated from Lamesa High School in Lamesa, Texas, then graduated from Jacksonville Baptist College in Jacksonville, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Phillip retired September 1, 2025 from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as an Industrial Specialist IV. Phillip was preceded in death by his grandparents: H. H. and Marie Lybrand and A. B. and Johnnie Middleton, father: Bennie Lybrand, brother: Keith Lybrand, and grand-daughter: Leah Elizabeth Dean. He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years: Jan Lybrand, daughter and son-in-law: Kaley and Matthew Dean, daughter and son-in-law: Kelsey and J. W. Gonzales, son and daughter-in-law: Kevin and Betsy Lybrand, and grandchildren: John Dean, Nathan Dean, Abigail Dean, Brayden Lybrand, Preston Gonzales, Kennedy Lybrand, Rachel Dean, and two grandchildren who will join the family soon. Phillip is also survived by his mother: Carole Lybrand, his father-in-law and mother-in-law: John F. “Buddy” and Jeanette Aultman, sister-in-law: Lydia Lybrand, brother-in-law and wife: John David and Gena Aultman, brother-in-law and wife: Jason and Toya Aultman, numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family. Phillip placed his faith in Jesus at the age of 11 and because of that relationship with Him, he secured his eternal home in Heaven. Phillip lived most of his adult life in Jacksonville, Texas where he was ordained a deacon at First Baptist Church. He served faithfully through the years as Awana Commander, Student Ministries Volunteer, Choir and Vocal Ensemble singer, a member of various leadership committees, as well as sharing his gifts and talents when opportunities would arise. In the more recent years, while preparing for an early retirement, land was purchased and a home was built in LaRue, Texas and Phillip joined Leagueville Baptist Church. One of Phillip’s greatest pleasures was woodworking. He built several pieces of furniture as well as many other items. He loved to spend time in his shop creating new pieces and workstations for his tools. Phillip’s idea of a successful day was if he had been productive on his tractor and able to mark things off his to-do list. On March 4, 2026, Phillip was doing what he loved. He was outside on his land, on his tractor. What seemed like an ordinary day became the day Phillip stepped from what he loved on earth, to standing before the One he had loved and served his whole live.
