Oleta E. Grounds

Oleta Emmaline Grounds, resident of Corsicana, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Heritage Oaks West Retirement at the age of 92. She was born September 7, 1922 in Cleburne to Jake and Polly Sheffield. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother,great grandmother, sister and friend. She worked at Haggar Slack Factory, Adams Hat Factory and Wal-Mart where she retired in 2003. She gave her life to the Lord at an early age and remained faithful until her death. It was very important to her that her children were in church. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She loved to work in her yard and keep the house. She is preceded in death by husband Reagan Grounds, June 20, 1995; daughter, Robbie Biggar; granddaughter Tammy Kaye Grounds; great grandson, Kasey Wyatt Roberts; brothers, Walter, Rich, Sam, Melvin, J.W. Sheffield. Sisters, Mae McGee, Fannie Hill, Minnie Goodman, Katherine Bell, Step sister Iva Mae Young. She is survived by her children, Polly Knott and husband Kenneth of Corsicana, Dwayne Grounds of Corsicana; granddaughters, Kim Coston and husband Larkin of Corsicana, Cindy Kirk of Corsicana, Cheryl Roberts and husband Kevin of Gun Barrel, Janet Grounds of Corsicana; great granddaughters, Autumn Grounds, Briana Roberts, Cailin Thomas, Caslin Thomas, Jordan Kirk all of Corsicana; great grandsons, Korey Roberts, Kobey Roberts both of Gun Barrel; great great granddaughter, Emmaline Rae Menard of Corsicana; step grandchildren, Bro. Steve Knott and wife Sheila, Ron Knott and wife Sharon, Tammy Zhanel and husband Gene, L.J Coston II of Corsicana, Chris Coston and wife Lisa of Corsicana, Mylea Lovell and husband David of Lubbock; step great grandchildren, Stacy Hodges and husband Blake, Dan Knott and wife Ashley, Brad Zhanel and wife Christine, Brittani Lucas and husband Andy, Stephanie Knott, Tiffany Knott, Michael, Shawn, Jillian, Jacey and Regan; step great great grandchildren, Daylee, Landon, Cameron Hodges, Baylor Knott, Blane and Carter Zhanel, Harper Painter; sister in law, Pinkie Bell of Fort Worth. Numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 am Friday, December 5, 2014 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles McBryde officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Coston, Ernest Sikes, Donnie Grounds, Terry Grounds, Dickie Russell, LaSodd Thomas. The family would like to express a special thank you to Tina Smith for taking care of their mother and grandmother during her stay at Heritage Oaks West. Thank you, also, to Alice and Patricia, Coretta and the rest of the nursing staff at Heritage Oaks West and to Family First Hospice and Dr. Ronald Merrill.
