Nancy Sue Sherrard

Nancy Sue Sherrard, age 82, of Corsicana, Texas passed away on March 29th, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. Nancy was born on April 2nd, 1942, in Fort Worth, Texas to Thurman Jergins and Mary Womack. She was a lifelong resident of Corsicana where she attended school, graduating in the CHS class of 1960. Nancy met the love of her life, Roland Sherrard, Jr whom she married on February 14, 1964. They were married for 46 years and raised two beautiful children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend to many. Nancy worked at Travis Elementary School (Corsicana) as the Secretary for 25 years! Nancy loved her job but mostly loved the interaction with the kids and staff. She became "Momma Nancy" to many. She retired in 1999, to become a fulltime wife, mother and nanny to her grandchildren and later her great grandchildren. Together, Roland and Nancy owned and operated R&N Coffee Service for over 20 years. They also had numerous rental properties in Corsicana that always kept them busy. Nancy loved God, Roland, and her family most. She was the happiest sitting around the table playing games with her family. She enjoyed sewing, doing crafts, fishing, and gardening, Holidays and family gatherings were always a highlight of Nancy's year. She was an exceptional cook and there were always massive amounts of food, many laughs and good times to go around. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought the most joy to her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Nancy was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents Thurman Jergins, Mary Womack and her stepdad Dan Womack, her husband Roland L Sherrard, Jr and her sister Donna Atkessison. Left to cherish Nancy's memory are her son Kevin Sherrard and wife Stacy of Corsicana and her daughter Stacey Sanchez and husband Danny of Corsicana. She is survived by brother William "Rusty" Womack and wife Linda of Wisconsin, her brother and sister in law Cody and Harriett Sherrard of Corsicana. She is survived by her grandchildren Brandon Burkett of New York, Jennifer Huffman and husband Billy of Corsicana, Justin Wilkinson and significant other Paige of Streetman, Pierce Burkett of San Antonio, Cody Sherrard and wife Holly of Corsicana, Deven Burkett of Dallas, Lauren Diggs and husband Dylan of Corsicana and Brianna Sanchez of White Rock. She is also survived by her Great-grandchildren Mason Huffman, Jaxon Huffman, Jaylea Huffman, Jaydin Huffman, Kenadee Sherrard, Everett Sherrard, Shooter Diggs, Alyssa Diggs, Case Diggs, Weslyn Wilkinson, Brooklyn Wilkinson, Emberlynn Itchue, McKinlynn Itchue, Adelyn Burkett, and Ila Burkett. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and extended family members. The family would like to express a sincere and heartfelt Thank you to Lisa Hansen who provided exceptional care, loving friendship and kindness to our Mother and family for over 2 years. We would also like to Thank Hand and Hand Hospice for the great staff and service they provided. Pallbearers will be Justin Wilkinson, Cody Sherrard, Deven Burkett, Billy Huffman, Dylan Diggs, Mason Huffman, Weslyn Wilkinson and Honorary Pallbearer Jaxon Huffman. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana, Texas. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025 at Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County on Hwy 22, with pastor Charky Marquis officiating.
