Mary Ivy

Mary Evelyn Ivy of Fairfield, Texas entered the gates of heaven on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the age of 81. Mary was born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma on October 22, 1942, to Frank Daniel McCormick and Anita Doris (Templeton) McCormick. As a young girl, Mary moved with her family from McAlester, Oklahoma to Goldsmith, Texas, where she attended grade school. In 1961, she graduated from Odessa High School in Odessa, Texas. The same week of her graduation, she married the love of her life, Cleon Larry Ivy, at First Baptist Church in Goldsmith, Texas on June 1, 1961. Throughout their marriage, Larry and Mary lived in Lubbock, Monahans, Colorado City, Midland and Arlington, Texas, before spending the past 36 years in Fairfield, Texas. Mary deeply valued and loved the Fairfield community and First Baptist Church Fairfield. She was especially grateful to have been intricately involved in the details of her family’s life. Her greatest joy was having a front-row seat to watch her two granddaughters grow up in Fairfield, rarely missing an opportunity to support, invest, and influence their lives. Mary was a very kind and creative soul who enjoyed watercolor painting. She also loved coordinating large family gatherings that involved fishing trips and cookouts. Mary came to know Christ when she was 18 years old and exemplified her faith throughout her lifetime. Her favorite bible verse was Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. She was a godly example of a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mary was proceeded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in-law Cleo and Charlene Ivy, and her brother-in-law Stan Cullison. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Cleon Larry Ivy, her daughter Audra Ivy Robinson and son-in-law Blake Robinson, her two granddaughters Ivy Robinson and Ally Robinson, her sister Kay Miller and husband Lowell, her sisters-in-law, Linda Cullison and Bonnie Amburgy and husband Floyd, her brother-in-law Randy Ivy and wife Luann, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Freestone Cancer Support Group or the American Diabetes Association.
