Mary Jo Barlow

Our beloved mother, Mary Jo Barlow, was born on August 20, 1945, in Corsicana, Texas, to C.H. “Knocker” and Frances McCarter of Kerens, Texas. On April 14, 2026, we lost our cherished mother at Navarro Regional Hospital. Mary Jo was known for her purple robe and her rocking chair, where she spent many peaceful hours. She had a deep love for country music and enjoyed traveling to concerts to see her favorite artists. She loved to scoot a boot, stay up late watching Westerns such as Gunsmoke, and enjoyed any movie featuring Wyatt Earp. A romance novel could often be found on her bedside table, ready to be read beside her rocking chair. Mary Jo was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and would not let anyone speak badly about her team. She also had a passion for gardening, especially tending to her flower beds filled with her favorite pink roses she enjoyed her employment of at Corsicana ISD Mary Jo shared 33 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Cortiss Barlow, who was the love of her life. Together they raised five children: Karen, David, Rusty, Mandy, and Lisa. She was preceded in death by her parents, C.H. and Frances McCarter; her husband, Cortiss Barlow; her sons, David Barlow and Rusty Barlow; and her son-in-law, Gary Robertson. Mary Jo is survived by her loving daughters: Karen Robertson of Quinlan, Texas; Mandy Robinson and her husband Derek of Purdon, Texas; and Lisa Wiese and her husband Richard of Angus, Texas. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren who brought her great joy. She is also survived by her siblings: her brother, Robert McCarter; and her sisters, Barbara, Donna, and Judy; along with numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory. Mary Jo will be remembered for her love of family, her strong spirit, her devotion to her favorite pastimes, and the warmth she brought to everyone who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her services will be Graveside at Oakwood Cemetery 700 N 15 th st.
