Maria Ines Davila De Contreras

It is with deep sadness and love that we announce the passing of Maria Ines Davila De Contreras who left us too soon but will live forever in our hearts. Born in Pinos, Zacatecas, Mexico, Ines carried an adventurous and fearless spirit throughout her life. She later migrated to the United States, where she made her home in Fairfield, Texas, for the last 50 years. A devoted mother and homemaker, she was admired for her many talents and her selfless love. She had a gift for sewing, dancing, cooking traditional Mexican dishes, and bringing joy to her family through the meals and gatherings she lovingly prepared. She faced life’s challenges with strength and faith, dedicating herself to the care of her children. Her resilience and endless devotion will always be remembered. A woman of strong faith, Ines was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, where she found comfort and strength throughout her life. She was the beloved mother of six children: Pablo Contreras Jr., Jose Contreras, Alvaro Contreras (wife Tonie), Jessica Contreras, Esmeralda Rigdon (husband Joel), and the late Juan Contreras. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Micaela, Lucero, Izabella, Mateo, Marcelo, Juan Pablo, and Cataleya. She is survived by her sisters Rufina Davila Escobedo (husband Francisco Escobedo) and Guadalupe Ramirez (husband Lupe Ramirez), sister-in-law Pat Davila, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Pablo Contreras, her son, Juan Contreras, her brother, Nicholas Davila, and her parents, Victor Davila Silva and Ma. Calletana Guerrero Cisnero. Ines loved hosting family gatherings, especially on Christmas Eve, when she would lovingly prepare tamales and atole for the birth reenactment of Jesus—a tradition that brought the family together year after year. She never missed a birthday, always making sure her children and grandchildren felt celebrated and loved. She gave selflessly to others, especially to her family in Mexico, and was admired for her generosity, faith, and elegance—always dressed in her business suits, well-kept and full of pride. Her love, strength, and guidance will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Ines will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to guide her family until we meet again. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with a rosary beginning at 7:00pm on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am at St. Bernard Catholic Church on Saturday, August 30 with Father Hector officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery.
