Lelanie Petty

Lelanie Petty, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend won her battle with cancer surrounded by her family and friends on Tuesday afternoon, September 12, 2017 at the age of 52. Her strength and determination to battle this disease, with a smile, encouraged everyone and reflected the person people loved. She was born in Corsicana, Texas on November 13, 1964 to Earl Welch and Linda Livingston Welch. She graduated from Corsicana High School in 1983 and went on to attend college. Lelanie worked for Allstate Insurance in Corsicana with Badie Stewart for 23 years and in 2012 she established Lelanie Petty Insurance. On December 16, 2007 she married Steve Petty with each one gaining the others children and loving them like their own. Lelanie seemed to be involved with anything that helped children and young adults. She was a member of the Optimist Club of Corsicana for many years and Corsicana Girls Softball Association for 20 plus years. She loved her family and was always there for them helping them to succeed whether it was in career choices, sports or showing livestock. Whatever they were doing she was there to support them. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Welch; grandparents, Virginia and Elliott Livingston and brother Michael Welch. She is survived by her husband Steve Petty. Children; Mikayla Lane Jones, Rachell Nicole Payne and husband Brandon, Brittany Lynn Gober and husband Lance, Jake Hayden Petty and Kendall Walker and wife Jill. Grandchildren; Mallory and Alyssa Walker, Aubrey Payne, Lana Gober, Maycie and Laynie Walker and God – Children Krista Nabors and Stacey Bailey. She is also survived by her mother Linda McKinney and her siblings Kenny Martin, Tim Welch and wife Kim and Sherry Gibbs and husband Robert and close friends Teresa and Tony Jones, Kenneth Walker and Rusty Jones and many extended family members and friends. Visitation with Lelanie’s family will be Friday evening at Griffin – Roughton Funeral Home from 6 – 8pm. A celebration of her life will be 2:00pm on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Lamb, Pastor Derek Rogers and Pastor Harold Evans officiating. Pallbearers will be David Croom, Rusty Hitt, Tom Lester, Ricky Talkington, Scott Tidwell and Mike Tanner. Honorary pallbearers will be Badie Stewart, Brad Haynie, Kendall Walker, Brandon Payne, Jake Petty, Kayne Parten, Bill Hollingsworth and Denim Sinclair. Burial will follow at Hamilton – Beeman Cemetery in Retreat.
