Joyce Bruton

Joyce Annette Bruton, age 89, of Corsicana, Tx passed away Wednesday July 15, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born in Dallas, Tx on February 9, 1937 to Delia Leon Gullett and Clessie Mae Gullett. She married the love of her life, Jerry Martin Bruton on December 15, 1955 and shared 58 wonderful years together before his passing in 2014. Together they raised four children, although they took in several more. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church, where she taught children’s church for many years. She loved her church family deeply and she loved teaching those precious children all about Jesus Christ. She worked at Haggar Slacks for many years before she decided to take care of other children in her home. She became Nana to many. She loved going fishing, going to garage sales and estate sales. She absolutely loved playing Bingo and she was the Domino Queen! She loved arts & crafts, and she loved to collect beautiful things! Her most precious moments were those spent with her Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. She loved to “show off” her family to all of her friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leon Gullett and Clessie Gullett Warren, Stepfather Leslie Warren, Loving husband Jerry Bruton, Brother Leroy Gullett, Sister Jean Lane, Brother Bill Gullett, Sister Inez Scott, Daughter Mary Cates and Grandson Landon Biggs. She is survived by her children: Cindy and Micah Jones of Nashville, TN, Marty Bruton of Corsicana, Scott and Melissa Bruton of Wharton, Christi and David Biggs of Purdon, Bonus Children: Rita Bruton of Malakoff, Chris Sadoski of Rosenburg, Brenda Thomas of Corsicana. Grandchildren: Jason Eaves, Jeremy Bruton, Jennifer and Chris Rowe, Jessica and Caleb Vaughn, Andrew Bruton, Matthew and Lauren Bruton, Jordan and Chris Fox, Kelsea Bruton, Kendall and Jordan Harris, Christian and Kayla Thornton. Sisters: Pat Dunklin of Chandler and Carolyn Pillow of Corsicana. Numerous Great- Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. The family would like to thank Kerens Care Center for the wonderful care they provided. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Monday July 20, 2026 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 2 pm Tuesday July 21, 2026 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Biggs, Jeremy Bruton, Andrew Bruton, Matthew Bruton, Trenton Bruton and Christian Thornton.
