Joy Gibson Fischer

Joy Aultman Gibson Fischer, resident of Fairfield, Texas, passed away with family at her side on Monday evening November 3, 2014 at her residence at the age of 87. She was born in Fairfield on January 27, 1927 to Frank Aultman and Ruby Richardson Aultman. Joy graduated from Fairfield High School in 1944 and attended college at Sam Houston State University. She served as Medical Recorders Director, Assistant Administrator and Secretary of Board of Directors and Medical Staff of Fairfield Memorial Hospital for 23 years. Joy was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield, member of Texas and National Medical Records Association, Past Member of GFWC History Club of Fairfield and Freestone County Historical Commission. She enjoyed hobbies like traveling, reading and baking, but her true passion in life was caring for others and making them happy. Joy is preceded in death by her husbands: G. W. (Dub) Gibson who she married on August 11, 1946 and he passed away on April 2, 1989 after 42 years marriage and Jack D. Fischer who she married August 31, 1991 and he passed away on March 7, 2011 after 19 years of marriage. She is survived by her sons Gary Gibson and wife Debbie of Houston, TX. and Alan Gibson and wife Cathy of Wortham, TX. Step daughter Kay Ann Fischer of Corvallis, OR. Grandson J. Alan Gibson and wife Daline of McKinney, TX. Granddaughter Kasi Wright and husband Sam of Wortham, TX. Great grandson Hudson John Gibson of McKinney, TX. Great granddaughter Samantha Wright of Wortham, TX. She is also survived by her brother John F. (Buddy) Aultman and wife Jeanette of Jacksonville, TX. Sisters-in-law Julie Mayo and husband Jack of Corinth, TX. and Jane Thompson and husband John of Port Aransas, TX. Bother-in-law Jerry Gibson and wife Beverly of Abilene, TX. and several nieces nephews, cousins friends and care givers who helped and cared for her. Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield from 6 - 8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 11am at Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield with Dr. Jason Aultman officiating with Bro Eddie Ballard and Bro. Terry Skinner assisting him with the service. Burial will follow at Lake Chapel Cemetery with J. Alan Gibson, Sam Wright, John David Aultman, Phillip Lybrand, Kevin Lybrand, Connor Richmond, Avery Richmond, J. W. Gonzales and Matthew Dean serving as pallbearers.
