Joshua Aaron Stanley

Joshua will be remembered for his good heart, his unexpected sense of humor, and the goofy, mischievous side of him that could appear when you least expected it. His sister, Autumn, remembers playing Super Mario Bros. with him as kids, when Joshua would convince her that jumping into a hole would take her to a secret “warp world.” It did not—it killed her character and made it Joshua’s turn, exactly as he intended. Joshua shared a particularly close bond with his mother, Jeanie, and their relationship remained a constant throughout his life. He met his wife, Monica, as a teenager, and together they built a family. Joshua raised Jacobie and Gabriella from a young age, loved them as his own, and was incredibly proud to be their dad. He shared an especially close father-son bond with Jacobie and took great pride in the man he became. Becoming a grandfather to Elijah and Darla brought another generation into the family Joshua loved so much. Joshua enjoyed scary movies, watching his favorite old sitcoms over and over again, video games, and Sunday football, especially when those Sundays were spent with his nephew, Justin. As Justin grew older, Joshua became someone he looked up to, sharing the lessons life had taught him, offering encouragement, and often seeming to know what to say when it mattered. Even during times when Joshua had difficulty keeping his own head up, he could still help someone else hold theirs a little higher. Joshua is survived by his mother, Jeanie French; his wife, Monica Juarez Stanley; his children, Jacobie Juarez and Gabriella, and their families; his grandchildren, Elijah and Darla; his sister, Autumn Shaver and her husband, Robert; and his nephew and niece, Justin and Victoria Salyers. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Stanley; his stepfather, Chuck; and his older brother, Adrian. Joshua’s life was not always an easy one, but his struggles did not define the entirety of who he was. He was a son, husband, dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was laughter and mischief, Sunday football, familiar sitcoms, advice when someone needed it, and a lifetime of memories belonging to the people who knew and loved him. His struggles were a part of his life, but they were nowhere near the whole story.
