Jose Ibarra

José Gerardo Ibarra, 65, passed away on January 7th, 2024. He was born to the late Nicolás Ibarra and Hilaria Gómez on January 25th, 1958, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. José lost both his parents at the age of fourteen, a situation that required him to become responsible for his four siblings at a very young age. He met the love of his life, Ana Reyna Ibarra, in middle school and married her on September 1st, 1978. Ana and José immigrated to the United States in 1990, choosing Corsicana, Texas to settle and raise their four children. In November 1993, José established his own business, Eagle Auto, and ran it for thirty years. José was known affectionately to many close family members and friends as “Pollo.” Pollo / José was a jack of all trades and the person to go to for any kind of advice or need. He helped his sister-in-law with countless home and yard needs and dispensed aid on numerous other projects both large and small. Pollo also enjoyed taking on construction projects of all sizes. He built several houses, including his son’s home, and he built his granddaughters’ play places. His passion was taking care of others and preparing delicious food for his family and friends. Pollo’s loved ones agree that he was by far the most hard-working man they knew. When he wasn’t working hard at the office or on various projects, Pollo enjoyed relaxing at his lake house on Cedar Creek Lake. Memories of Pollo/José will be cherished by his wife of 45 years, Ana (Reyna) Ibarra; daughters Ana Edna Ibarra-Avila (John), of Corsicana, Texas; Ana Gabriela “Gabby” Ibarra of Corsicana, Texas; Ana Ximena “Kiki” Ibarra of Austin, Texas; and his son, Cristobal Ibarra (Ashley) of Corsicana, Texas. Also cherishing Pollo’s memory are his three grandchildren, Belén and Frida Avila, and Layla Ibarra. José is also survived by his brothers Santiago and Carlos Ibarra, and his sisters Esther and Francisca Ibarra, as well as many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family. José is preceded in death by his parents Nicolás Ibarra and Hilaria Gómez. The family would like to thank all the family, friends, and loved ones that have comforted, prayed, and offered support during this time of bereavement. Rosary will be 7pm Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Eulogy will be read at 9:50am with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am Friday, January 19, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Huérfano desde los 14 años, José quedó responsable de sus cuatro hermanos menores a muy temprana edad. Conoció al amor de su vida, Ana Reyna Ibarra, en la primaria, y contrajeron matrimonio el 1 de septiembre de 1978. José emigró junto con su familia a los Estados Unidos en 1990, estableciéndose en Corsicana, Texas. Fundó su negocio, Eagle Auto, en noviembre de 1993 y lo administró por cerca de 30 años. Era cariñosamente conocido como “Pollo” por sus familiares y amigos. Pollo / José era la persona a quien se acudía para resolver cualquier tipo de necesidad. Le ayudó a sus cuñados, hijos, y demás parientes y amigos con innumerables tareas de auto, casa y jardín. A Pollo también le encantaba el reto de la construcción. Construyó varias casas en el área de Corsicana y Cedar Creek Lake, incluyendo la de su hijo, y construyó también el espacio recreativo de sus nietas. Amaba cocinar deliciosos guisos y platillos para sus seres queridos. Pollo era de los hombres más trabajadores y comprometidos. Se pasaba sus días ocupado y absorto en cumplir con sus responsabilidades. Sin embargo cuando se tomaba sus descansos, a Pollo se le podía encontrar relajándose en su casa del lago en Cedar Creek Lake. Pollo/José será recordado con amor y respeto por su esposa de 45 años, Ana Ibarra Reyna; sus hijas Ana Edna Ibarra Reyna de Avila (Juan), Ana Gabriela Ibarra Reyna, y Ana Ximena Ibarra Reyna; su hijo, Cristobal Ibarra Reyna (Ashley); sus nietas Natalia Belén Avila Ibarra, Frida Ixchel Avila Ibarra, y Layla Camila Ibarra Goodman; y sus hermanos Santiago Ibarra Gómez, Carlos Ibarra Gómez, Esther Ibarra Gómez, y Francisca Ibarra Gómez. Pollo también será cariñosamente recordado por numerosos otros parientes, amigos, y conocidos. Fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres Nicolás Ibarra Alvarado e Hilaria Gómez Auces. La familia Ibarra Reyna desea agradecer a todos los familiares, amigos y seres queridos que los han consolado durante este difícil periodo de duelo. La familia pide que en lugar de flores considere hacer una contribución a Jose Ibarra Memorial Fund en Community National Bank and Trust.
