James Keith Sykes

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Keith Sykes, who left us on April 13, 2026, at the age of 65. Keith was born on November 7, 1960, and lived a life marked by dedication, quiet strength, and deep love for his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, as well as a loyal friend, whose greatest joy came from the people he loved. Keith proudly served the community as a Corsicana Police Officer for over 25 years. Throughout his years in law enforcement, he was known for his commitment, integrity, and steady presence. After retiring from the police department, he continued to serve others in a different way, working for Brookshire’s as the Express Manager for 10 years, where he built lasting relationships with coworkers and customers alike. Outside of his work, Keith found joy in the simple things. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboy and NASCAR fan, a passion that began early in life and was shared closely with his sister, Karen. Their bond was one of lifelong connection—rooted in family, shared memories, and the kind of understanding only siblings can have. Whether cheering on the Cowboys or watching a race, those moments together were especially meaningful to him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra K. Sykes; his son, Drew Sykes; his cherished grandchildren, Kade Sykes, Auden Sykes, Natalie Troutman, Austin Troutman, Reagan Troutman and Elliott Troutman, his sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Charles Fincher; and his stepsons, Chris and Jeffrey Troutman. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lorene Sykes. Those who knew Keith will remember him for his steady nature, his kindness, and the way he showed up for the people in his life. Whether through quiet moments or shared laughter, he made those around him feel valued and loved. His legacy lives on in the memories he created and the family he held so close to his heart. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., also at Griffin-Roughton. Burial will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
