Howard M. "Tex" Hill

Howard M. “Tex” Hill passed away on August 10th, 2025 in the presence of his loved ones. Tex was born on October 25th, 1930 in Marietta Oklahoma to James and Noma Hill. A devoted father, loyal friend, and a man of quiet generosity. He lived his life with humility, kindness, and unwavering integrity. Tex grew up with strong values, a love for hard work and a deep commitment to his family and his community. Though he rarely spoke of it and nor did many know of it, he impacted countless lives with acts of service and compassion. One of his most significant influences was the over two decades he spent in the Army. This experience would forever shape his life, work ethic, and leadership style. Tex proudly served in both Korea and Vietnam, earning numerous medals and decorations for his service, including the highest honor he received, the Bronze Star. Following his retirement from the military, Tex embarked on a business journey, owning and operating various companies. He spent most of his life as a businessman and entrepreneur, spanning businesses such as oil and gas, concrete, construction, services stations, car washes, and many others. In 2003, he founded T&G Environmental LLC, which became his primary focus in his later years. He dedicated himself to the environmental construction industry, serving in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area. At the age of 82, Tex “retired” when Kimmi purchased the company. Today, Kimmi continues to own and operate T&G Environmental, serving as its President and owner. In 2023, his grandson Clayton Lopez joined T&G Environmental, marking the third generation of his family to work for a company he started. Tex is survived by his daughter Kim, and her husband Jonathan Lopez of Teague, TX; daughter Silvia Mercedes Hill of Germany, grandchildren Clayton and his wife Hannah Lopez of Italy, TX, Kayce Lopez of Teague, TX and great granddaughter Lily Lopez of Italy, TX; his sister Pat Conley of Marietta, Oklahoma and numerous nephews and nieces of which he loved dearly. Visitation will be held Aug. 16th from 5-7pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, Fairfield. Funeral Services will be held Aug. 17th at 2:00pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home with burial to follow at Dew Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clayton Lopez, Mauricio Mendez, Jimmy Overbeck, Shane Leonard, Chuck Lopez and Bill McDavid. Honorary Pallbearers include Sam Barrick, David Simons, Scott Simons, Steve Simons, Ken Brawley, Chuck Vititow and Terry Taylor.
