Helen Dunlap

Helen Louise Mixon Dunlap, affectionately known as “Granny”, went to be with her Lord, with family surrounding her on October 18, 2022, at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, TX. Helen was born August 30, 1942, in Pursley, TX to Mary Louise & Perlie Mixon. She was from a large family with 3 sisters and 5 brothers. She graduated from Corsicana High School in 1960, then met and married the love of her life, Jackie Dunlap, on November 25, 1960. Helen was a homemaker and raised 3 loving daughters and later took care of several of her grandchildren. She was a wonderful caregiver. After her husband retired, they moved to Flovilla, GA, where Helen took care of her great aunt for over 10 years. After her aunt passed away, she & Jackie returned to Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jackie Dunlap, her grandson, Stan Petty Jr., her mother, father, her 5 brothers and 2 of her sisters. She is survived by her three daughters, Debra (Eddie) Gregory of Frost, Texas, Rhonda (Johnny) Richardson of Corsicana, Texas, Tina (Rodney) Hiler of Tyler, Texas; six grandchildren, Amanda (Jason) Farris of Corsicana, Texas, Morgan McAnally of Frost, Texas, Dr. Jacqueline (Lucas) Bozick of Tyler, Texas, Dr. Brian (Lindsay) Gregory of Austin, Texas, Ryan (Melissa) Arnett and Hunter Arnett of Flower Mound, Texas; nine great-grandchildren, Kaylea, Kylie & Abby Onstott, Taylor Gregory, Brooklyn McAnally, Alaina Baker, Tripp Petty, Zoe & Reid Bozick ; one sister, Martha (Raymond) Howell of Waxahachie, TX; Brother in law Kenneth (Sallie) Dunlap; Sisters in law, Billie Jean Mixon, Linda Mixon, Linda Griffith-Mixon, Francis Mixon, Martha Collard, Sarah (Alvin) Mullican, Cheryl Collard; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends . Besides spending time with family and friends, Helen enjoyed shopping, especially for purses, camping at Navarro Mills, gambling in Shreveport, LA, and her daily phone calls to family. She touched many lives with her caring spirit. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and aides of CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital who took such good care of our “Granny”. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 2 pm on Sunday, October 23, at Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, with Pastor Charky Marquis, officiating. The church is located at 4495 W. State Highway 22 in Corsicana, TX. A short visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, TX or to the charity of your choice.
