Harold Scott

Harold Scott of Corsicana passed away at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the age of 76. Harold was born in Palestine, TX., on May 7, 1939 to Olen Melvin Scott and Mamie Jolley Scott. He married Norma McNeill on July 1, 1960 in Corsicana at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Harold was known for his great love for everyone and sharing Christ love. He served faithfully since he was a young boy. When attending a small country church he would walk to the church and light the fire to be sure it would be warm for others. He has served very faithfully all of his life. He favorite subject was LOVE, he was compassionate and had a very contagious smile. He loved the Lord first, family, church and everyone he met. When he felt the call to God ministry he was so excited and could not wait to be called to a church. He served at Bazette Baptist Church for 4 1/2 years, Roane Baptist Church for 15 1/2 years and loved it more each day he served. When he told his boys he was going to start preaching one replied "great Dad, but you have been preaching all my life." He loved his family dearly but he would say God first, family second and church and others third. His secular work through his life was service station attendance, which he loved because he could meet and talk to people, rod wrencher in oil field then kept books for oil companies. Harold would tell you all Love God and don't weep for him "I'm with God now and walking streets of gold, love you and hope to see you soon." He is survived by his wife of 55 years Norma Scott of Corsicana. Sons: William (Bill) Scott of Carrollton and Harold Alan Scott and wife Loree of Ennis. Grandchildren: Robert Scott and wife Sarah of Silver Springs, MD., Ricky Scott and wife Morgan of Bryan, TX., and Katelyn Scott of San Marcos, TX. Great granddaughter Emily Scott of Bryan, TX. He is also survived by a brother Gordon Scott of Blackwell, TX. and several nieces and nephews. Harold is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Orlen Scott. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-7pm in the Chapel at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday evening following the visitation in the Chapel at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home at 7pm with Rev. Floyd Petersen and Rev. Todd Nivens officiating. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church in Corsicana or Gideon's International.
