Eva Marie Jenkins

Eva Marie Jenkins, age 94, of Bryan, Texas, passed from this life on April 1, 2024, in Irving, Texas. She was born to JW and Lorene Dial on November 22, 1929, in the country outside of Alvarado, Texas. She is survived by her daughters: Kim Drawbaugh of Coppell, Texas and Marva West and husband, Ted of Euless, Texas; her sons: Rickie Jenkins and wife Jody of Wylie, Texas and Marty Jenkins of Round Rock, Texas; 9 grandchildren: Codie Jenkins and wife Kody of Pollok, Texas; Torri Milton and husband Chris of Coppell, Texas; Kam Armstrong and husband Chris of Abilene, Texas; Jarrod Drawbaugh and wife Jana of Liberty Hill, Texas; Colt West of Oak Point Texas; Ty Jenkins of Round Rock, Texas; Trevor West and wife Julia of Prescott, Arizona; Clay Jenkins of Round Rock, Texas; Jessica Rutledge and husband Aaron of Hurst, Texas; and 29 great grandchildren; and 1 great, great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents JW and Lorene Dial and sister Lou Paxton. Marie graduated from Powell High School in 1947. She went to Navarro Jr. College for a year and married Jesse Glen Jenkins on June 20, 1948. They were married 75 years, 9 months, and 12 days. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1972 and her master's degree in reading in 1977 from North Texas State University. She taught jr. high reading and math one year and fifth grade for four years. She finished her teaching career as a reading recovery teacher. After 20 years in education, she retired in 1992. Marie loved her family and delighted in times that they came to her house to see her. She was a Proverbs 31 wife, where her husband called her blessed. She was an awesome mother and grandmother. She had all nine grandchildren into her home each summer as they were growing up. The grandchildren still talk of this time together. She enjoyed trips to Branson for many years with her children. She was known for her hospitality. She was always having people into her home, where she placed a feast on the table. She took food to those in her church family any time there was a need. The two special things about our mother were that no matter what you did for her, the words you heard coming out of her mouth were thank you and she was always asking, “Can I help you?” even when physically there was no way she could help. She was a faithful Christian and member of the Benchley Church of Christ for 27 years. For the last months of her life, she was a member of the Campbell Road Church of Christ. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her, especially her family, of whom she was very proud. She was dearly loved. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 1:00 pm at Prairie Point Cemetery in Kerens, Texas.
