Eunice Russell

Eunice Bailey Russell, resident of Corsicana, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village at the age of 84. She was born in Angus, Texas on September 23, 1926 to James Albert Bailey and Susan Abbie Cox Bailey. Mrs. Russell went to school in Blooming Grove and lived in Retreat with her husband later in life. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Corsicana for over 50 years and attended services faithfully. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, and reading. Preceding her in death are her parents; brothers Olan Bailey, O.D. Bailey, and Albert J. Bailey; sisters Bettie Martin and Annie Tinkle; and her husband of 52 years Buford Odell Russell who past away in December of 1998. Survivors include her three children; Dickie Russell and his wife Garnette of Corsicana, Karen Summers and her husband Travis of Garland, and Judy Averitt and her husband Brad of Carrollton. She was blessed with six grandchildren that she loved dearly; Sylvia Williams and her husband Chuck of Corsicana, Tyson Summers and his wife Kourtney of Garland, Susan Russell of Philidelphia , PA., Karey Doelling and her husband Jeremy of The Colony, Melissa Mock of Irving, and Clayton Mock of Plano. She was blessed again with four great grandchildren; David Tapia and his wife Leigh Ann of Naples, Italy, Joanna Tapia of Corsicana, Henry Summers of Garland, and on great grandson on the way Jace Doelling, and one great great grandchild Jordan Brown of Corsicana. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law; Lena Jane Bailey of Rice and Louise Bailey of Tyler. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8pm at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 2pm in the Chapel at Griffin - Roughotn Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff White officiating from Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Hamilton - Beeman Cemetery. Pallbeares will be Larry Bailey, Russell Bailey, Keith Bailey, Jackie Martin, Kenneth Martin, James Martn, Laneil Russell, Ricky Russell, Robert Miles, and Ernest Sikes. The family ask that in honor of Mrs. Russell that you wear her favorite color, pink in some fashion for the service.
