Edward Hamilton

Buck Hamilton 88, loving husband, father, father in law, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on February 28, 2008. He was a life long resident of Corsicana Texas and friend to everyone he met. He will be missed by those who enjoyed his engaging smile and positive nature. He was an independent businessman retiring in 1980 ath the operator of two Texaco Service Stations. Born Edward Hicks Moss in Ennis Texas on February 15, 1920 to Amelia and Henry Moss, he lost his mother at birth. Raised and adopted by Gussie and Silas Hamilton, he changed his last name to Hamilton. He maintained the family love and support of both Moss and Hamilton families throughout his life. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Margaret Hamilton, sons Kenneth Hamilton and wife Lyn of Houston and David Hamilton and wife Peggie of Lake City Florida, grandsons Kevin Hamilton, Kirk Hamilton, Scott Hamilton and Eric Hamilton and their families, 4 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter and a neice Frances Brockbank of Lincoln Nebraska. Buck served his country proudly through 5 years of active duty in World War II and as Company Commander of Army Reserve units in Corsicana and Mexia for 20 years. After completing OCS he joined the 70th Infantry Division and led as Captain of Company K of the 275th Regiment in the Rhineland Campaign in Central Europe. He received the Bronze Star and EAME Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars. He retired with the rank of Major from the 36th Division. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, 50 year member of IOOF, the American Legion, VFW and Association member of the 70th ID and 36th Division. His demonstrated love of God; family and friends, his love of life, his unassuming personality and willingness to accept and befriend those from all walks of life are examples we all cherish and seek to emulate. Visitation will be 4-6pm Sunday March 2, 2008 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be 10:00 am Monday March 3, 2008 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel. Military burial will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, David Harwell of Corsicana and Bobby Bruce of Corsicana.
