Edna Montgomery

Edna Earl Hargrove Montgomery, 81 of Brushie Prairie, Texas entered into rest with her Savior on Wednesday, August 16, 2006. She was a resident of the Ennis Care Center in Ennis, Texas due to Alzheimer's. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. at Navarro Mills Baptist Church with Bro. Bob Reid officiating, and burial will follow at Dresden Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews: James Montgomery, Leon Montgomery, Tony Hargrove, Alan Hargrove, Ricky Montgomery, and Sammy Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers are her great grandsons Robert Schulze and John Landon Freeman. She was preceded in death by her parents Maudie Lee Hargrove Gunn and James F. Hargrove. Sister: Tressie Montgomery. Two brothers: Glen Hargrove and Bud Hargrove. Grandson: Jimmy Blissett. Great grandson: Stayton Hammack. Survivors include her husband of 45 years John K. Montgomery. Sons and daughter-in-laws: Eddie and Linda Trompler of Frost , Texas, and Larry and Yvonne Trompler of Victoria, Texas. Step-daughters: Patsy Blissett of Carthage, Texas, and Clara Hollingsworth and husband Bill of Midlothian, Texas. Brother and sister-in-law: Billy and Shirley Hargrove of Frost, Texas. Sister-in-law: Mildred Hargrove of Frost, Texas. 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Edna had such a love of life and loved people to the fullest. She was always smiling and laughing and would sing a yodel, especially when she thought no one was listening. Her favorite hobby was quilting. Her quilts were treasured by everyone who was gifted to receive one of them. Her most requested quilts were the birth announcements. These were special quilts with the newborns vital statistics. And each and everyone was hand stitched, designed and personalized for the baby. She would also crochet and made numerous beautiful items for loved ones. Whenever you would happen to stop by and see her, she usually would be sitting at her quilting frame stitching, singing while doing a labor of love. Edna was a longtime member of the Navarro Mills Baptist Church.
