Dorothy Edens

Dorothy Louise Tanner Edens, born Oct. 28, 1918, died yesterday morning at Navarro Regional Hospital. Mrs. Edens was the loving and adoring wife of the late Joe I. Edens. They were married almost 64 years at the time of Mr. Edens? death. Mrs. Edens was also preceded in death by two sons, Bryan Harvey Edens and Joe L. Edens. She is survived by Ruth Dawson and her husband Jim Dawson of Corsicana. Gary L. Edens and his wife Jacqueline Edens of Suffolk, Va. and Susie Matthews and her James Matthews of Waco. She is also survived by her daughter in law Sandra Cochran of Longview. Mrs. Edens had eight grand children. Donna Clifton and husband Bill and Donna?s children Morgan and Whitney. Debbie Ward and her husband Mark and their children Hanna, Hope and Hayden. DeAnna Bennett and her husband Jeff and their children Blair and Bryant. Angela Gunn and her children Aaron and Alley. Melanee Harrison and her husband Scott. Joey Edens and his wife Shawna. Jessica Burnett and her sister Kelley Terrell, her children Logan and Ryan. Mrs. Edens had three step grandchildren, Kiran Krishnamurty, Vikram Krishnamurty and Andela Morriss. Dorothy and Joe Edens cane to Corsicana in September of 1960. Mrs. Edens worked at the Western Auto Store for several years and then was employed by Hable Construction Co., where she retired after many years of faithful service. Dorothy and Mr. Edens were long time supporters of little league baseball, Boy Scout Troupe 258 and First Christian Church. She later joined St. Lukes United Methodist. Joe and Dorothy were the founders of the Texas Bird Hunters Association. Before coming to Corsicana, Mrs. Edens worked at the First National Bank of Longview. Funeral services will be held at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Tuesday with burial to follow at Hamilton-Beamon Cemetery near Retreat. Pallbearers include Fred Blitz, Tom Wilson, Melvin Christon, James Stapleton, Charlie Collier and Joey Edens. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. C. David Campbell and members of the Texas Bird Hunters. The Reverends Gary L. Edens and Gene Cravens will officiate at the funeral home. Reverend Bruce Carpenter of St. Lukes United Methodist will lead the grave site services.
